      Kalmar is looking for a Global Intellectual Property Manager to drive business value from IPRs and manage the protection of intellectual property (IP) assets, patent portfolio, IP strategy development, processes and actions in Kalmar.

      Position is based in Helsinki, Finland, Tampere, Finland or Ljungby, Sweden.

      Main tasks and responsibilities:

      • Drive value generation from IP management globally in Kalmar by managing Kalmar patent portfolios and IP forums globally
      • Coach and excite the organisation to learn how IPRs can be efficiently utilised in a competitive business environment to drive business growth
      • Global process owner for IP operations and owner of Kalmar IP Strategy and processes supporting divisions in their IP operations driving value from IP
      • Conduct searches related to IP Risk management and competitors’ IP activities and to to assess the novelty and potential infringement of new inventions
      • Develop and implement internal procedures ensuring employees are aware of their responsibilities, and provide training on intellectual property matters
      • Identify, propose and and manage invention disclosures administration and file patent applications
      • Ensure management of IP terms and ownership in agreements with partners together with legal and sourcing organisations
      • Follow the the latest developments in intellectual property law, industry trends, and competitor activities, and inform internal stakeholders of the overall IP landscape development
      • Responsible for planning and managing the IP budget, costs and the assignments performed by patent agencies and IP law firms used

      What you’ll need to succeed:

      • Education
        • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business, legal / industrial management, engineering, information technology or similar

      • Experience
        • At least 5 years of working experience, in relevant field of industry
        • Deep knowledge and understanding of the IP field, in the relevant industry context
        • Understanding the business conditions and customer requirements
        • Experience in driving business value from IP management
        • Experience in working in cross functional and multi-cultural environment
        • Experience in people and project management
        • Good problem solving skills and good communications skills

      • Competencies
        • In-depth understanding of intellectual property laws and regulations
        • Ability to work closely with technical teams to understand technical aspects of the company's products and services and protect innovations.
        • Strong business thinking and orientation
        • Excellent spoken and written communication skills
        • Networking and collaboration capabilities and ability to communicate with and get attraction from the top management
        • Ability to work under pressure to keep agreed deadlines and to deliver results
        • Fluent in English, preferably also in Finnish or Swedish (written and spoken)
