      Job summary

      A new exiting opportunity has arisen within Leigh Primary Care Network (PCN) to recruit 3 qualified / experienced GP Assistants to join our current GPA and to further expand our team. This role is predominately to assist the GPs and other clinicians in their daily administrative duties to include some minor clinical tasks. In addition to the Practice level work there will be sessions working on PCN projects on areas such as health promotion.

      Main duties of the job

      The main duties of this role include:

      Clinical:

      • NHS Health Checks
      • Diabetic Care Processes
      • ECG
      • BP Checks
      • Anything else appropriate / competent and beneficial to the practice GPA working in
      • Support vaccination clinics

      Administrative:

      • Quality improvement project work
      • Monitoring data / Audits
      • Complex admin tasks

      • Completing basic (non-opinion) forms in addition to some elements of forms for the GP(s) to approve such as insurance forms, mortgage applications, Department for Works and Pensions benefits forms and other as appropriate
      • EPACCS (GM care record, keeping up to date)
      • Actioning relevant pathology
      • Project work / Health Inequalities
      • Anything else appropriate / competent and beneficial to the practice GPA working in

      About us

      Leigh Primary Care Network consists of ten local GP practices located across Leigh.As a PCN we have a patient population of almost 60,000 and we work together to improve patient services and health outcomes.

      Our primary care network workforce ARRS workforce includes First Contact Practitioners, Community Link Workers, Care Coordinators, Clinical Pharmacists. The PCN have a strong leadership team headed by our Clinical Director and PCN Manager / Digital Transformation Lead.

      The following are the core responsibilities of the GP Assistant/Medical Assistant. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels.

      Clinical:

      • Complex admin tasks

      c. Attend relevant annual updates and shared practice learning

      d. Complete all required PCN mandated training

      e. Undertake any tasks consistent with the level of the post and the scope of the role, ensuring that work is delivered in a timely and effective manner

      Duties may vary from time to time without changing the general character of the post or the level of responsibility

      • Healthcare qualification (level 3 or 4) or working towards gaining equivalent level

      Desirable

      • Phlebotomy certification
      • Vaccination certification
