      Definition of Classification:

      The Career Connect Internship Program (CCIP) is a newly created donor-funded internship program aimed at providing internship opportunities, within the non-profit sector, to University of Redlands undergraduate students. The OCPD seeks a qualified and interested graduate student to serve as a Graduate Assistant to support in coordinating and running the second cycle of the CCIP for the 2023-24 academic year.

      Duties and Responsibilities:

      The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

      • Collaborates with the CCIP Coordinator to prepare a timeline of execution for the program with a focus on: non-profit partner outreach, meeting with key stakeholders across campus, brainstorming program marketing, creating program workshop series, and confirming internship sites for the upcoming summer.
      • Conducts outreach via email, phone, and LinkedIn to potent organizational partners (non-profits) to act as host organizations or the CCIP.
      • Cultivates and maintains mutually beneficial relationships with confirmed nonprofit partners.
      • Collaborates with the Associate Director for Marketing, Communications, and Events to market the CCIP to undergraduate students.
      • Confirms workshop topics and schedule with support from the OCPD Associate Director for Career Strategy & Integration and Peer Career Educators (PCEs); workshops will be hosted for prospective interns to attend, learn about program, confirm pre-qualification, and application preparation.
      • Serves as organizer for workshop series.
      • Supports in creating and launching CCIP employer profile via Handshake and posting internship positions.
      • Co-leads onboarding orientations for confirmed interns and non-profit partners.
      • Works closely with the CCIP Coordinator to continue the program timeline with a focus on: Nonprofit partner communications, meeting with key stakeholders across campus such as Student Financial Services and the Registrar’s Office, preparing program marketing to promote application deadline to students, and finalizing SSRV-281: Career Exploration Internship course syllabus in preparation for summer 2024 launch.
      • Cultivates and maintains strong working relationships with confirmed nonprofit partners.
      • Collaborates with the OCPD’s Marketing, Communications, and Events team to market the CCIP to potential applicants.
      • Supports in monitoring CCIP Employer Profile on Handshake to monitor internship applications submitted by students.
      • Support in planning and conducting onboarding orientations for confirmed interns and nonprofit partners.
      • Serves as main point of contact for interns during 10-week internship and communicates with all host organizations and interns about deadlines, policies, etc.
      • Oversees intern participation during the 10-week program by holding ongoing 1 on 1 check ins, check ins will focus on intern needs, completion of homework assignments, confirmation of updated timesheets and internship goals set between interns and site supervisors.
      • Serves as TA for SSRV-281: Career Exploration Internship course; course will be conducted virtually and will be instructed by the Assistant Director for Employer & Alumni Connections.
      • Plans (virtual) end of year culmination event for hosts organizations, interns, and program donor to attend.
      • Completes program exit interviews with participating interns.
      • Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned.

      Qualifications Guidelines

      Any combination equivalent to, but not limited to, the following:

      Experience/Training/Education:

      Required

      • Bachelor’s degree is required. Admission to a graduate program at the University of Redlands or other university/college.
      • One year of experience in a similar position.
      • Clerical or office experience preferred, but not required.

      Preferred

      • Experience creating and delivering presentations or leading groups.
      • Leadership experience: Overseeing projects, leading meetings, initiating communications with potential organizational partners, workshops, and sessions.

      Knowledge and Skills:

      • General knowledge and understanding of concepts, principles, and practices of program management.
      • Principles of individual and group behavior.
      • Communicate effectively and follow instructions, both verbally and in writing.
      • Strong interpersonal skills.
      • Excellent technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
      • Excellent organizational skills.
      • Ability to work autonomously and independently.
      • Ability to operate standard office equipment.
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, Forms, OneDrive, and OneNote.
      • Ability to recommend appropriate courses of action within established guidelines.
      • Ability to foster strong, positive relationships and align both internal and external resources to achieve university objectives.
      • Ability to take initiative, exercise discretion and work with confidentiality.
      • Must be able to competently interact with a culturally and ethnically diverse population of students, faculty, and staff.

      Marketable Skills Graduate Assistants Learn:

      • Program development, coordinating, and assessment
      • Interpersonal skills necessary in developing relationships with Higher Education stakeholders such as: employers, alumni, students, staff, trustees, donors, and parents/guardians
      • Ability to navigate change by working in a department with a range of new initiatives, resources, and programs
      • Experience developing marketing content tailored to different audiences and stakeholders
      • A stronger understanding of how articulate the value of your work through your résumé, cover letters, interviewing, and networking
      • How to build leadership and teamwork skills through diverse, campus-wide collaboration

      Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

      Working Conditions:

      Standard office setting. Duties performed are primarily in an office environment while sitting at a desk or computer workstation or in meetings. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.

      Physical Demands:

      Incumbents regularly sit for long periods; walk short distances on a regular basis; may travel to various locations to attend meetings and conduct work; use hands and fingers to operate an electronic keyboard or other office machines; reach with hands and arms; stoop or kneel or crouch to file; speak clearly and distinctly to answer telephones and to provide information; see to read fine print and operate computer; hear and understand voices over telephone and in person; and lift, carry and/or move objects weighing up to 20 pounds.

      HIRING RANGE: Anticipated hiring range is near or at the minimum of the classification, commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training. The University of Redlands is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The full salary range for this position is defined as the Full Pay Range. The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position defined as the Hiring Range. Placement within the Hiring Range is determined by internal equity, and relevant qualifications.

      BACKGROUND CHECK: Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment.       PHYSICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL EXAMS: For certain positions typically in Public Safety, Facilities, Athletics and Information Technology Services departments, employment is contingent upon a candidate passing a pre-employment physical exam with the ability to lift in excess of 50 lbs. Public Safety Officers, in addition to a pre-employment physical exam, will also be required to pass a psychological evaluation.
