We are delighted to announce the launch of our Product Company Engineering Graduate Programme for 2024. Based within our Compressor business in Renfrew, our raduate Programme gives you the opportunity to build your career in a global company with a worldwide reputation for engineering excellence and developing innovative solutions that help create a more sustainable world.
We have an exciting opportunity for two Graduate students to join our Graduate Programme, which takes place over 2 years. You will work within our Compressor Product Business, gaining exposure to a broad range of disciplines including Sales & Proposals, Procurement, Operations, Mechanical / Control & Instrumentation / Chemical Engineering, Project Management, Commercial & Contract Management, and Marketing.
The 2 Year Programme gives you an excellent grounding into the overall Howden Compressors business and the products that we manufacture here on our Renfrew site, allowing you to ultimately build a successful career in Engineering.

The Products

You could be involved in designing innovative rotating equipment that impacts people’s everyday lives. From high speed blowers used in biofuel or sanitisation applications, to screw compressors used in a nuclear fusion and particle collider processes, or even digital solutions to optimise equipment performance.
What You Will Learn
Our Howden Graduate Programme, based within our Compressor Product Business in Renfrew, is a fantastic opportunity to accelerate your learning with a variety of real life work experiences across different business areas. It will offer you the opportunity to build your career in a global company with a worldwide reputation for engineering excellence and developing innovative solutions that help create a more sustainable world.
The scheme is fully supported and funded throughout, and our Engineering experts will mentor you throughout the duration of the programme, giving you the knowledge and skills required to successfully build upon your career.
During your 2 Year Programme, you will carry out 4 rotational 12 week placements in the first year, with, the potential of carrying out longer, more focussed placements of 6 months in Year 2. Primarily, these placements will be in Renfrew, Scotland, but there may be the opportunity to travel to our other sites across the UK.
Your placements will be structured across all departments, and you will be set at least one SMART objective each time. Placements will also be a mix of core and optional, giving you as much exposure as is necessary to successfully complete the Programme.
Upon successful completion of your 2nd Year, you will be expected to move into a permanent role within the business whilst continuing to receive mentoring from some of our most experienced and accredited leaders within the Product Company.

What Do I Need to Apply?
We are looking for enthusiastic Engineering Graduates who are keen to build a successful career within a Global business, to join our Programme. The scheme is open to all Engineering disciplines and levels of awards, however we actively encourage applicants from Mechanical Electrical and Electronic and Chemical Engineering.
You will be driven, motivated and adaptable, an excellent communicator both verbally and written, with strong numerical and IT skills. You will thrive on solving problems, have strong interpersonal skills, and are able to collaborate well with others. You love a challenge and are comfortable taking on responsibility.
