      Summary: Ground Transportation Coordinator

      Execute and follow-up on the compliant, safe, and efficient ground transport of shipments in support of OIA Global’s full suite of services. Consult with various department colleagues on subcontractor pricing and services in the role of internal service provider.

      Duties and Responsibilities:

      • Review dispatch requests, assign carriers, and dispatch shipments across multiple modes, creating and or updating bills of lading as needed and updating shipment status information for ground transportation clients (e.g., multi-stop TL, LTL consolidation, multiple modes, reefer, heavy haul, cross-border, etc.).
      • Monitor shipments to ensure on-time pickup and delivery to meet customer and company requirements.
      • Manage exception shipments such as expedites, OS&D situations or high visibility critical shipments to ensure flawless execution and that all relevant parties are provided status information.
      • Monitor carrier POD performance daily and provide necessary feedback to carrier representatives to ensure PODs are entered within the specified corporate KPI.
      • Negotiate and execute spot quotes for specialized shipments.
      • Communicate and liaise with internal clients as well as carriers at a transactional level.
      • Monitor customer service activity to ensure customer satisfaction. Resolve and monitor carrier issues for internal and external clients.
      • Approve and audit freight bills as needed.
      • Monitor subcontractor compliance to ensure carriers maintain compliance status to corporate subcontractor guidelines.

      • Clear understanding of LTL operations including NMFC classifications and documentation.
      • Working knowledge of FTL, LTL and Airfreight Operations in an import/export environment.
      • Working knowledge of FCL/LCL/Intermodal Trucking/Drayage operations.
      • Creative team player with the ability to function in a fast paced and challenging environment.
      • Computer literate in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel & Word), basic knowledge and understanding of WMS and TMS applications.
      • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
      • Demonstrates organizational and prioritization skills to meet tight deadlines as well as work under minimal supervision.

      Education and Experience:

      • Associates Degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
      • 2+ years’ experience in the Transportation/Logistics/Freight Forwarding industry, preferably as a coordinator/planner, freight broker, dispatcher, or similar role.
      • Heavy haul specialized and reefer experience including carrier contacts is preferred but not required.

      Physical Requirements:

      • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
      • Must be able to lift 15 pounds
