Job Description

- Plant seeds, bulbs, tree seedlings and shrubbery for maintaining an attractive appearance
- Prune trees and trim hedges
- Mow and trim lawns and sports fields in order to keep them well groomed
- Spray or dust chemicals on infected areas of plant life to ensure healthy plants
- Adjust, maintain, and repair ground equipment and accessories
- Remove snow from sidewalks, parking lots, and driveways and spreads ice melt to maintain safety of students, staff and visitors
- Collect and dispose of leaves and refuse
- Assist in preparation of game fields to ensure optimal playing conditions
- Repair and maintain fence and playground equipment to ensure safety
- Follow district policies and safety regulations
- Assist with traffic control during busy times and/or large events
- Performs other duties as assigned in order to ensure a well maintained clean, orderly, and safe environment
- Pass a background check
- Are experienced in operating and maintaining light and heavy grounds equipment
- Hold a chemical application certification (not required, but preferred)
- Understand lawn and sports field care
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- Have basic computer skills
- Work well with others
- Can lift heavy items and work in extreme weather
- Can spend 50% of their day sitting, 40% walking, and 10% standing – Time is spent lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and using finger dexterity
- Maintain regular and acceptable attendance/punctuality working 40 hours per week
- Full-time hours, year round
