GENERAL INTRODUCTION :
The Archbishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ’s mission present and enduring as Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Archbishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.

Each position employed in Associated Catholic Cemeteries helps to extend the ministry of the Archbishop in particular ways as outlined in the position description.
GENERAL SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL PURPOSE :
Assists Holyrood Grounds Foreman in supervisory capacity for grounds staff at Holyrood Cemetery when necessary. Assists the foreman as required in planning, scheduling and supervising grounds staff, overseeing all grounds operations and maintenance functions while performing all grounds operational and maintenance functions at Holyrood Cemetery for the orderly burial of the dead as well as maintaining all grounds, buildings, equipment and irrigation systems. May be asked to assist at other ACC cemeteries for grounds operations and maintenance functions on occasion.
ESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES :

Supervises and trains the Holyrood grounds maintenance staff in their work when the Holyrood Grounds Foreman is not present or upon the Foreman’s or Superintendent’s request, to ensure that day to day grounds operations including, but not limited to, burials, memorial settings/placements, grounds keeping and landscaping activities and the like, are completed in an efficient and timely manner.
Ensures that Holyrood grounds operations are in compliance with all ACC, Archdiocesan, and governmental safety regulations by being knowledgeable of all applicable laws and regulations, by assisting the Foreman as required with inspecting Holyrood for compliance, and by reviewing with support staff all applicable safety issues.
Assists the Foreman in hiring and evaluating grounds personnel. Incumbent accomplishes this assisting the Foreman as needed in hiring and evaluating grounds staff.
Performs all aspects of burial services. The incumbent accomplishes this by performing grave excavations, outer burial container installations, interments, inurnments, entombments, fixing sunken graves, and other required tasks, as well as performing authorized disinterments.
Installs memorials. The incumbent accomplishes this by performing flush memorial and upright monument settings, vase installations, shutter settings, fixing sunken or leaning memorials, and other related tasks as required.
Provides general care of cemetery property by mowing, trimming, aerating, pruning, weeding, planting, blowing roads, picking up flowers and grave decorations, performing light janitorial duties, maintaining equipment, buildings and irrigation systems, and by using all tools and equipment necessary to perform work.
Is available to work and actively participate in all position related job functions. Incumbent accomplishes this by engaging in regular and dependable attendance on the job including arriving to work on time, by being ready to work when the shift begins, taking rest breaks and meal periods as required by ACC policy, and remaining on the job until the scheduled work shift is over.
Contributes to the good public relations of ACC. Incumbent accomplishes this by projecting a positive image of ACC in all contacts with publics served, and by assisting the Foreman in reviewing proper conduct with support staff and ensuring support staff comply with ACC standards during all interactions with publics served, with particular emphasis regarding on site committal services and liturgies.
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS :
(Any Equivalent Combination of the following Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities.)
Primary :
Willingness and ability to support the mission of the Church by extending the ministry of the Archbishop.
Ability and desire to use God-given gifts and talents in service of the local Church in support of the collaboration between lay and ordained Ministers.
Education :
High School/GED.
AA degree (or equivalent experience) in equipment repair and maintenance, welding (or related areas)
Experience :
2 years personnel supervision (cemetery/landscape preferred)
2 years landscape and excavation experience (cemetery preferred)
Proven team leader or supervisor experience
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
Other Elements :
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
First Aid/CPR/AED certification
Washington State Pesticide License
Valid Washington State driver’s license and automobile insurance
Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
