      Job Summary

      To provide thought leadership and subject matter expertise on Absa’s Talent Acquisition framework, strategies, policies and standards; in order to deliver the diverse talent pipeline required to deliver Absa’s business objectives. To drive execution of a differentiated executive hiring experience and competitive AGL employer brand and EVP.

      Job Description

      Key Accountabilities:

      Accountability: Acquisition Experience and thought leadership

      • Support design and implementation of AGL talent acquisition policy, standards, strategy, framework and governance
      • Develop and embed a robust and consistent group-wide hiring process that utilizes best-in-class approaches; embodies Absa’s desired culture; and delivers a differentiated hiring experience for both candidates and hiring managers.
      • Ensure Absa’s acquisition processes and systems enable effective face-to-face and digital engagement, MI reporting, analysis and insights generation to facilitate data-driven talent acquisition planning and decision making (Including periodic Quality of Hire analytics)
      • Conduct internal and external research and produce industry- and functional-level insights that position Absa as a thought leader on talent acquisition matters
      • Provide Talent Acquisition Subject Matter Expertise and advisory to business and key stakeholders
      • Drive talent acquisition reputation building activities that position Absa an employer of choice

      Accountability: Talent Branding, Marketing and EVP

      • Lead development and implementation of an Absa Group talent brand proposition and strategies that position Absa as the employer of choice for internal and external top talent.
      • Support customisation of the Absa Group talent brand proposition to relevant business and corporate service areas.
      • Drive the positioning of the AGL employee value proposition across the organisation.

      Accountability: Sourcing and Selection

      • Proactively build executive and business critical talent pipelines by assessing medium-long term executive and business critical talent gaps/opportunities and developing and implementing robust sourcing strategies.
      • Personally execute Executive and Business Critical Hires.
      • Lead and manage the Absa Alumni Programme

      Accountability: Stakeholder Engagement

      • Build and maintain effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including business leaders, talent leaders, learning institutions, government bodies, industry bodies, sector forums and talent acquisition solution providers

      Accountability: Capability Building

      • Build Group and business acquisition functional capabilities in proactively attracting and selecting the best talent for Absa’s cultural and capability requirements; including Leading the Talent Acquisition Community of Practice and implementing specialist, manager or colleague-focused interventions.
      • Build hiring manager capability in owning and executing the talent acquisition agenda as a personal and business priority.

      Accountability: Agency and third party management

      • Manage Absa’s Preferred Suppliers List for recruitment, monitoring the quality of services provided on an ongoing basis to ensure a high quality PSL is maintained.
      • Effectively manage Agency and Third Party spend across the group to ensure that agencies are only briefed on critical, scarce skills requirements.
      • Manage Absa’s talent acquisition systems and tools provider in collaboration with the People Experience and Analytics team.
      • Manage all relevant third party relationships and Service Level Agreements in line with regulatory requirements and Absa standards.

      Accountability: People management

      • Manage a small team of talent acquisition specialists in line with Absa’s desired culture and people management standards.

      Accountability: Risk Management and Governance

      • Identify and take accountability for all relevant Talent Acquisition risks in terms of the AGL Operating Model and Risk Management Framework and ensure that adequate controls and monitoring mechanisms are in place; including candidate screening, assessments, interviews and placements.
      • Drive a culture of proactive compliance and risk management within executive and management teams, and the function as a whole.

      Education and experience required

      • Appropriate Bachelor’s Degree (NQF level 7)

      Minimum:

      • At least 5 years recent experience leading a Talent Acquisition Function in a large complex organisation OR Group Level Centre of Expertise OR working as a Talent Acquisition Senior Specialist in a top consultancy
      • Demonstrated knowledge and use of emerging talent acquisition best practices and technologies
      • Successful track record of developing effective talent acquisition strategies for talent at all organisational levels

      Advantage:

      Education

      Postgraduate Degrees and Professional Qualifications: Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
