      Job Description

      Suterra is seeking a highly motivated person to lead grower relations activities for the world’s leading biopesticide company. If you are enthusiastic about driving agricultural innovation, building great teams, and helping growers deliver a high-quality crop while reducing or eliminating the use of traditional chemical insecticides – this is the role for you.

      As a successful candidate, you will rely on your rich experience and a network in California agriculture to help Suterra deepen grower relationships and understand current trends, challenges and opportunities. You will build a world-class team with a winning, can-do attitude. And you will build on the company’s strengths and capabilities by making your Suterra grower-facing teammates better, as well.

      The position can be located anywhere in California that provides good proximity to large commercial growers in nuts, citrus, vines and tree fruit. It is expected that travel may be as much as 50% during seasonal spikes, primarily to visit growers and provide oversight to your team in the field. When safe to do so, this role will require occasional the company headquarters in Bend, Oregon as well as to other regions and possible international destinations.

      Role and Responsibilities:

      • Build, develop and coach a great team to direct grower relations for Suterra in California.
      • Create a multi-year plan for deepening relationships between Suterra and leading growers in California, that drives a greater understanding of growers needs and opportunities.
      • Work across Suterra sales, technical, and product development teams to bring Suterra experts to bear, to drive adoption of Suterra products and provide insight into future opportunities.
      • Use your insights to play a key role within the Suterra global leadership team in devising product development strategy.

      Qualifications

      • Minimum 10 years’ experience working in agriculture.
      • PCA/CCA or similar accreditation in crop advisory roles, or pest control is desired.
      • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, perhaps as a result of a track record in sales, business development or farm management
      • Experience recruiting, hiring, and developing people on high performing teams.
      • Strong organizational and planning skills, and the ability to simultaneously manage multi-year strategic plans and day-to-day tactical activities.

      Salary Range: $120,000-200,000 and may include a discretionary bonus. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
