      West Yorkshire Combined Authority are seeking to appoint a Growth Hub and Cluster Lead to join our Growth Service team.

      At the West Yorkshire Combined Authority we bring together local councils and businesses through the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (LEP), that ensures that our work meets the needs of employers and residents so that everyone in our region can benefit from economic prosperity supported by a modern, accessible transport network, housing and digital connections.

      It is an exciting time to be joining the Combined Authority, following the announcement of a £1.8bn devolution deal that has been secured for West Yorkshire. Devolution will enable us to drive up living standards for local communities while tackling the climate emergency and help deliver our commitment to become a net zero carbon city region by 2038.

      The Role:

      Reporting into the Senior Service Manager, Growth Service, your key responsibilities will include:
      • Project delivery and financial management of the Single Investment funded Growth Service project to support the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across West Yorkshire, as part of the Combined Authority’s Growth Service.
      • Leading the development and delivery of business support activity across the Yorkshire and Humber Growth Hub Cluster, ensuring that all four Growth Hubs and central government are fully engaged in, and supportive of, the regional work programme. These organisations are: North Yorkshire County Council, Hull City Council, Sheffield City Region Combined Authority and West Yorkshire Combined Authority.
      • Deliver and maintain excellent working relationships with central government and local authorities across West and North Yorkshire, including the team of 15 district-based SME Growth Managers.

      About You:

      You will have the following key skills, attributes, education and experience in the following:
      • Knowledge and practical experience of managing/delivering publicly funded business support projects/programmes.
      • Knowledge of the business support priorities, and eco-systems across the Yorkshire and Humber Region and experience of SME business drivers, priorities and issues.
      • Experience of managing and developing staff and of matrix-management across teams and in other partner organisations (e.g. Local Authorities).
      • Knowledge and current experience of procuring and managing business support programmes.
