What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Assign ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, and E/M codes for outpatient and physician encounters
- Resolve NCCI, NCD/LCD, and other outpatient edit failures
- Conduct DRG downgrade reviews and draft payer appeals
- Analyze and trend coding and denial data to improve performance
- Present findings and lead staff education sessions
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Minimum of 5 years' inpatient coding experience in academic/Level I trauma centers
- Experience with DRG appeals and highly complex chart reviews (e.g., trauma, spinal fusion, sepsis)
- Familiarity with EPIC and 3M coding systems
- RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, or COC certification
- Membership in AHIMA or AAPC
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Strong data analysis skills in Excel/PowerPoint
- Experience with Epic CAC workflows and service ticket systems
- Background in project management or education/training
