Ebenezer Middle School - Builds and maintains a productive sports program. Provides and ensures the maintenance of adequate and safe areas of play. Ensures that all participants undergo thorough conditioning and proper education on the fundamentals of the sport.
- Provides leadership and assists principal in the selection, assignment, and evaluation of athletic coaches and staff members.
- Fosters good school-community relations by keeping the community aware of and responsive to the athletic program.
- Assumes responsibility for the organization and scheduling of all interscholastic athletic events.
- Assumes responsibility for contracting officials, team physicians, and law enforcement as required, and assumes general responsibility for the supervision of home games.
- Responsible for the health and safety of student athletes. Ensures that proper safety and first aid procedures are followed at all times. Follows all appropriate emergency procedures. Makes sure that all participants have a valid physical examination before participation.
- Promotes and maintains positive relationships with parents and student athletes.
- Conducts parent meetings prior to the beginning of the season.
- Ensures that the sports program complies with the rules and regulations of the school and District, the South Carolina High School League, affiliated Conference and Region.
- Complies with all other legal requirements of school athletic programs. Communicates to members of his/her team all policies, rules, procedures, and requirements as they pertain to the team.
- Ensures appropriate behavior of assigned coaching staff, players, and other team personnel at all times.
- Ensures effective practice organization.
- Works to accommodate the needs of the media and the sports program through media exposure.
- Ensures punctual attendance at scheduled coaches’ meetings and rules clinics. Promotes the sports program by performing “extra” activities, such as sponsoring fundraisers, sponsoring youth camps, attending team camps, etc. Promotes and supports the school’s booster club.
- Willingly performs other duties as assigned or requested.
- Physical Requirements: Requires sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a recurring basis or routine keyboard operations. Requires mobility.
- Data Conception: Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable functional, structural or compositional characteristics (whether similar to or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people or things.
- Interpersonal Communications: Requires the ability of speaking and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information. Includes giving assignments and/or directions to subordinates and receiving assignments and/or direction from supervisor.
- Language Ability: Requires ability to read a variety of laws, policies and procedures, technical and professional studies, reference books and publications, etc. Requires the ability to prepare performance appraisals, policies, strategic plans, complex reports, schedules, correspondence, etc. with proper format, punctuation, spelling and grammar, using all parts of speech. Job Description
POSITION: Head Football Coach
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of three years of coaching experience. Must possess or demonstrate the qualifications to obtain South Carolina educator certification. Such alternatives to these qualifications as the Board may find acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Principal and Athletic Director
JOB DUTIES:
TERMS: 215 Days. Salary and work year to be recommended by the Superintendent and approved by the Board.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation by the principal.
