      Head of Geospatial Services

      • Closing date: 31st August 2024

      • Please submit your CV along with a covering letter which describes why you should be considered for this role.

The Head of Geospatial Services reports to OS’ Chief Geospatial Officer and will ensure the successful implementation and onward development of a service based operating model that focuses on value delivered through collaborative partnerships, performance optimisation and incisive decision making.

This role will lead, optimise and develop the portfolio of three overarching services that together deliver all of our data products and 80% of our revenue. Service operation and performance, continuous improvement, budget, issue and risk management are the bread and butter of this role – responding to demands from our Product team to ensure our products meet customer and market needs and are shipped to the right quality, timescales and price.

As we transition to a service-based model, this is an opportunity to help us design the right service approach for OS, to imprint your vision and expertise into successful and sustainable outcomes and to help lead organisational and cultural change across our passionate and high performing expert teams.

This role will ensure optimal delivery to the standards and service levels we co-create with our Product colleagues. And as our Head of Geospatial Services, you will also lead collaboration across our data, production and technology teams to innovate and drive opportunities for service enhancements harmonising and prioritising service roadmaps and investment.

The role will be the lynchpin that enables an ongoing and constructive conversation across our teams. Inspirational leadership, influential and collaborative stakeholder engagement and systems thinking will be your calling cards as you help us to take an end-to-end approach and make cohesive choices that ensure our collective success for the long term.

Our Head of Geospatial Services will be directly responsible for a small team of Service Owners and accountable for the service outcomes delivered by the multidisciplinary teams that align to each of our three services – over 400 individuals across a wide range of professional disciplines and communities.

Compelling communication, the agility to move between strategic and hands on leadership and the passion to ignite and drive the desire for change will be as important to this role as the ability to ensure we deliver our commitments.

      What we’re looking for

      • Proven experience in leading and developing a successful service operation, ideally within a data and technology business
      • Comprehensive understanding of service design methodologies and approaches and how to ensure reliable and efficient operations across multiple interconnected services
      • Track record of driving continuous improvement and performance optimisation within a service-based environment
      • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and management ability with clear evidence of influencing across different business functions and at senior levels
      • Business and financial acumen with demonstrable evidence of driving effective and efficient outcomes within a service environment
      • A big picture perspective of complex service operations with a natural interest and ability to engage in the detail and drive attention to areas of concern
      • Visible and active people leader with excellent track record of empowering direct and indirect teams – including leading through change
      • Excellent communication skills
      • Experience of collaborating and contributing value as part of a business Senior Leadership Team
