Head of Global Oncology, Clinical Pharmacology & Pharmacometrics

Are you an experienced, scientific leader looking for a hybrid role in clinical pharmacology and pharmacometrics? Do you also possess great experience with Oncology development (P1-PIV)? If yes, this might be you next role!

We are looking for a Head of Oncology, Clinical Pharmacology & Pharmacometrics to join our Clinical Pharmacology & Quantitative Pharmacology (CPQP) department and lead a global team supporting Oncology Portfolio. In this role you will be placed on our vibrant R&D site in Gaithersburg, MD.

CPQP is part of the broader organisation Clinical Pharmacology & Safety Sciences (CPSS), where we are involved from early discovery through to launch and commercialization of drug candidates and approved drugs. We’re spread across five sites and are tasked with finding the right dose for the right patients using a deep understanding of pharmacology, combined with advanced quantitative methods including statistical and mechanistic mathematical models.

This is the place to go beyond discovery – we think holistically about patients and are always learning from those living with diseases.

      What you will do:
The Head of Oncology, Clinical Pharmacology & Pharmacometrics will be accountable for delivering the early and late Oncology portfolio. You are an excellent people leader and line manager of Clinical Pharmacology Scientists and Pharmacometricians. You also have significant expertise in oncology early & late stage drug development, diverse drug modality experience including small molecules, monoclonal antibodies, CAR-T, ADC’s, bi-specifics and novel modalities. You will be responsible for integrating systems medicine including micro physiologic systems, as well as data and AI with clinical pharmacology and pharmacometrics to impact dose selection. In this role you will be accountable for driving scientific innovation within your team across the drug development phases (1-IV). You will be a member of the CPQP leadership team and support the head of CPQP in functional management and strategic initiatives.

      Responsibilities include:

      • Delivering on all new modalities in Oncology CPQP TA, including supporting Oncology filings across different modalities.

      • Leading and developing a global, excellent team supporting the Oncology Portfolio.

      • Accountable for the review/approval of clinical pharmacology/pharmacometric elements for regulatory submissions (eg. IND, EoPh II, BLA/NDA documents and meetings).

      • Representing Clinical Pharmacology in discussions with key Oncology stakeholders and other departments and ensuring close collaboration with partner functions.

      • Championing diversity, inclusion and a culture of lifelong learning.

      Essential in the role:

      • PhD/MD degree with a focus on Clinical Pharmacology, Pharmacometrics, Pharmaceutics or a similar field; alternately, a combination of M.Sc in Clinical Pharmacology, or similar field + Pharm.D. with relevant experience will be considered.

      • Significant experience in Oncology development (P1-PIV), including expert knowledge in clinical pharmacology applied to Oncology as well as experience with regulatory filings.

      • Solid experience with line management and leadership of skilled professional scientists.

      • Externally recognised as a key opinion leader in oncology clinical pharmacology applied to clinical pharmacology, in addition to an extensive publication record in high-quality and high-impact journals.

      Desirable in the role:

      • An ideal candidate will possess 14+ years’ experience in drug discovery and development.

We strongly believe that everyone contributes with a unique set of competencies. Your curiosity and passion for personal development combined with support from colleagues, mentors and leaders, will ensure you maximise your skills, abilities and contribution.
