      We are recruiting for a Head of Therapies who shares our ambition and vision to deliver the Best of Care by the Best People and has the drive to take us forward, by ensuring that the Trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff.

      Main duties of the job

      The post holder is responsible for the operational delivery of and strategic and professional direction of Therapy Services. This involves delivery of all operational performance targets, ensuring all services are provided within the agreed level of activity, standards of performance, safety, quality and budget.

      The post holder will be responsible for developing and implementing standards across therapy services within the Trust which support professional leadership, competence, capacity and standards of conduct.

      The Head of Therapies will directly line manage advanced/extended scope practitioners and clinical/professional leads for Dietetics, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy. The post holder also has indirect responsibility for the Speech and Language Therapy service provided by Medway Community Healthcare and Podiatry Service provided by Kent Community Healthcare Foundation Trust.

      Job responsibilities

      The post holder will be responsible for sustaining and developing strong and effective partnership and stakeholder relationships across local, regional and national networks. This will include leading the development of existing and new innovations that will support the development of the Trusts strategic objectives.

      Leadership

      Lead a strong, cohesive team of highly motivated clinical managers working together to develop and improve therapy services across the Trust and the local health economy

      To support the development of and promote the Trusts mission, values, aims and objectives.

      To provide a professional, senior management contribution across the Care Group, working in partnership with the wider Diagnostics and Therapies quadrumvirate, and others to deliver cost-efficient, high quality and responsive services.

      To be the lead for the escalation process for patient flow from a therapies perspective.

      To take a lead responsibility for providing therapy service advice to the Trust and as appropriate to external agencies. To be accountable for ensuring that this advice is congruent with the professional bodies standards and other national policies and directives.

      To have a high profile role in the development of Therapy Services working with internal and external partners, responding to national and local initiatives and policy development within a monitored governance framework.

      To be accountable for the delivery on key strategic work streams as directed by the Divisional and Executive team as required.

      Where appropriate, to be the Trust operational lead for specific work programmes. Attending internal and/or external meetings and networks as required, representing the Trust with local stakeholders, commissioners and other providers.

      To ensure the establishment and maintenance of good relationships and communication throughout Therapies, care groups, the division and with the wider Trust, promoting a culture where AHP clinical and non-clinical staff are actively involved in the decisions on how services are provided and targets delivered.

      To provide an advance level of strategic thinking, being able to convert concepts into plans and communicate these effectively to a wider audience.
