      Responsibilities

      Tasks

      • Provide information/training to employers, employees and general public
      • Establish and implement policies and procedures
      • Collect samples of materials for analysis
      • Inspect spills of hazardous chemicals or products
      • Inspect workplaces for safety or health hazards
      • Investigate workplace accidents or illnesses
      • Initiate enforcement procedures to fine or close an establishment
      • Manage training and development strategies
      • Oversee development of communication strategies
      • Develop and implement health and safety plans
      • Ensure health and safety regulations are followed
      • Oversee the preparation of reports
      • Respond to employee questions and complaints
      • Liaise with management, union officials and HR consultants
      • Evaluate work environments, programs and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent disease or injury
      • Assign, co-ordinate and review projects and programs
      • Inspect products and processing methods; prepare reports and ensure that regulations governing health, quality and safety are followed
