      Health Promoter –Tobacco, Cannabis and Vaping Team

      Health Services – Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention

      Status:

      • (1) Contract - Full Time – Up to 13 months
      • (1) Regular Full Time

      Location: 7120 Hurontario street, Mississauga, ON

      Hours of work: 35 hour/week

      The Tobacco, Cannabis and Vaping Team is seeking a Health Promoter to join a multidisciplinary team of public health professionals to plan, implement, and evaluate population-level health promotion initiatives that prevent and minimize the harms associated with the use of tobacco, cannabis, and vaping products.

      What you will do in this role:

      • Apply evidence-informed decision-making and population health to plan, implement and evaluate health promotion initiatives.
      • Analyze and interpret population health data and evidence to make recommendations to inform program direction.
      • Support advocacy efforts to strengthen policies that prevent initiation and protect the public from second-hand smoke and vapour.
      • Build and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external partners.
      • Facilitate meetings with internal and external partners, and delegate tasks to meet project deliverables and achieve common goal.
      • Communicate effectively to all levels of audiences through various channels including presentations, reports, and briefing notes.
      • Ensure principles of health equity are considered and reflected in programming.
      • Model behaviours that exemplify Regional values, including diversity, equity, and inclusion.

      What the role requires:

      • University degree in a relevant health-related field
      • Minimum 1-year experience utilizing methods and tools to facilitate program planning, implementation and evaluation.
      • Thorough understanding and demonstrated application of evidence-informed decision-making.
      • Related work experience and knowledge of tobacco, cannabis, and vaping trends and applicable legislation is considered an asset.
      • Previous experience in public health is considered an asset.

      Work Mode & Job Location:

      In this role you will work remotely and on-site based at the 7120 Hurontario Street, Mississauga, ON worksite. The frequency of on-site activities will vary based on operational requirements. Your remote work location must be located within the province of Ontario.
