Have you ever wondered, “When will I actually use this math in real life?” or "What careers or fields of study exist within mathematical sciences?" This course explores how mathematical thinking informs today’s world and the contemporary applications in which higher level math is applied in abstract fields like differential geometry, topology, and algebra to solve complex, non-intuitive problems in science, technology, and engineering. Math is in everything we do, from infrastructure and technology to the systems that support daily life and societal functions. Through lectures, discussions and investigations, you'll develop skills in understanding data and informed decision making, applying logic and reasoning to complex problems, and applying problem solving to real world examples of mathematics. In this course, you'll explore academic pathways and career options in the mathematical sciences, helping you identify areas of study and professions that align with your interests and strengths.
