What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Perform accurate and timely quality reviews of internal and vendor coding team members using appropriate code sets and coding guidelines
- Develop and deliver coding education to coding team members based on quality review outcomes
- Review and respond to coding denials and coding questions, performing clinical validation of appeal letters as needed
- Compile and track statistics related to quality reviews and follow-up actions
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for coding denials, providing guidance and education to coding staff and other departments
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Associate (CCA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
- Minimum of 2 years of coding experience
- Strong knowledge of coding guidelines and standards
- Ability to analyze denied claims and identify trends for education
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience with EPIC or similar healthcare software
- Familiarity with coding education and training programs
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting
- Advanced coding certifications or credentials
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
