What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Verify accurate assignment of diagnoses and procedures within medical records to comply with regulations
- Act as the primary department expert on Diagnosis-Related Groups (DRGs) and monitor regulatory updates
- Conduct regular audits of medical records and assist with coding accuracy reviews
- Review claim denials and recommend corrective action plans to prevent future issues
- Develop and coordinate educational and training programs on coding and documentation for relevant staff
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High School diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree preferred
- CCS certification required
- Minimum of two years of medical or hospital coding experience
- Prior experience with an encoder and EMR computer systems
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Knowledge of denials management
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in developing training programs related to coding and documentation
