  Overview

  An independent woman in her late 60's with Multiple Sclerosis is seeking a live-in companion who will have their own guest house on property. She owns her own business and works out of the home but needs assistance managing the household estate and with daily tasks. The schedule will vary with flexibility desired, but generally it will be morning hours (starting at 9am to do breakfast) until the principal leaves for work at 9:40am and she sometimes doesn't return for dinner until 7-7:30pm. The role could include occasional weekends depending on the principal's plans and if she is entertaining guests. The job starts as soon as possible.The role requires assistance with a variety of different tasks including some house management duties and some personal assistant duties, running errands (you will have the principal's car for use), cooking for principal (such as beans, rice, eggs, etc.), some driving (e.g. to Stanford for medical appointments), handling her medication, and overseeing deliveries, vendors, the gardener, etc. during the day while she is out. She needs assistance with scheduling, planning, organization, emails, etc. She cannot be on her feet for very long, but she does her own dressing/grooming and in-town driving for the most part.

  The job duties include; valet (care for her clothing) organization within closets drawers, pick-up and put away daily- this is not doing laundry, more like organizing/tidying things, putting shoes, purses or jackets away, vanity, weekly dry cleaning drop-off and pick-up, 2 cars to wash and gas weekly, meal prep when home Monday through Friday, grocery shopping, maintaining the refrigerator, dishes and loading/unloading the dishwasher, cleaning up after meals, light pick up of the bedroom in the morning, mail pick up, interfacing with pool and landscapers, driving, and more.She is outgoing, warm, empathetic, and respected by many. Due to the principal's MS, her nervous system can become unregulated quickly (e.g. highly elevated cortisone levels); therefore, she needs someone who is patient, understanding, and kind. This role does require a strong backbone and someone who doesn’t take things too personally. Understanding the emotional aspect of a companion role is important.The accommodations are a guest house with a bedroom, bathroom, living room, and kitchen. The salary range for this role $85k-95k and benefits include 2 weeks' vacation and major holidays off.
