      The live-in Caregiver provides caring and competent in-home care to help LIFETIME clients remain safely in their home by maintaining a clean, safe and comfortable home environment. Caregiver provides care and support in order to keep the client at the optimal level of physical and mental function at home. Live In Caregiver remains in client's home 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

      Responsibilities

      • 1. Maintain client confidentiality and privacy.
      • 2. Read and follow the client's individual care plan and provide outlined services.
      • 3. Provide personal care to include bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, skin care, mouth care, and shaving (with electric razor only).
      • 4. Ensure the client is clean, comfortable, and dry at all times.
      • 5. Plan and prepare meals and snacks according to dietary guidelines and encourage the client to eat a healthy diet. Assist with eating when necessary.
      • 6. Wash the client's personal laundry and bed linens.
      • 7. Maintain a safe and comfortable home environment that eliminates accident hazards.
      • 8. Remind the client to take the correct medication at the right time.
      • 9. Help the client with safe exercise, ambulation, and transferring.
      • 10. Supervise and monitor daily activities.
      • 11. Perform light house cleaning including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and keeping all living areas clean.
      • 12. Monitor the client's status and report changes to the supervisor. Keep the supervisor informed of the care being provided and any questions or issues that arise.
      • 13. Accompany the client to medical appointments. Make sure all follow-up tests or appointments are scheduled and completed.
      • 14. Does errands including shopping, going to the post office, and dry cleaners.
      • 15. Help the client stay in touch with family, friends, and the community.
      • 16. Assist with making phone calls and appointments.
      • 17. Participate in reading, games, and other activities to help the client maintain mental function.
      • 18. Assist with mail sorting and filling out forms.
      • 19. Provide care and feeding of pets.
      • 20. Organize cupboards, closets, and open areas.
      • 21. Takes all unpaid breaks and reports any interrupted breaks to supervisor.
      • 22. Keeps accurate time, attendance, and task records using telephony to clock in and out or activity sheets when appropriate.
      • 23. Other Duties as outlined in Client Care Plan.

      Qualifications

      EDUCATION

      High School diploma or equivalent required.

      EXPERIENCE

      Candidates who are not certified as a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) or Home Health Aide (HHA) must have a minimum of 2 years of experience providing personal care, preferably in a home setting.

      LICENSURE

      Home Health Aide (HHA) certification or Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) preferred.

      SPECIAL SKILLS

      Is trustworthy, reliable, enjoys helping people, and can work as a team player. Can work independently of regular direct supervision and follow written directions. Can use sound judgment while adhering to all company policies and guidelines. Ability to cook, clean, and perform all household tasks. Ability to provide personal care assistance and homemaking as needed.

      PHYSICAL DEMAND

      1. The physical demands of this position range from sedentary to medium-heavy, i.e., constant handling of up to 10 pounds, to occasional handling of up to 70 pounds. 2. Standing, walking, and handling are performed on a constant basis. Carrying, bending, lifting/lowering, pushing/pulling with whole body and with arms are performed on a frequent basis. Sitting, squatting/kneeling, twisting, and reaching are performed on an occasional basis. 3. The highest physical demand of this position is incurred while transferring a patient. Examples include sideling to sitting, sitting to standing, and lifting from chair, commode, toilet, bed, or floor. Loads lifted or forces exerted up to 70 pounds per person in a height range of 0-36 inches. 4. Enter the building using varied levels of stairs in order to provide service.
