      Description

      This position is fully remote and based at Raleigh Radiology Business Support Services located at 5220 Greens Dairy Road, Raleigh NC 27616. Remote training will be provided for the first week. Work hours are Saturday-Sunday, 3:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

      The Hospital and Physician Services Specialist serves in a primary support role for radiologists and as a functional liaison between hospital staff and medical staff from various facilities. The primary function is to support the radiologists with daily operations including order entry and Clario issues, providing effective communications, and following up with urgent/critical findings.

      Additional duties include speaking with patients and referrers as the WithinHealth Care Coordinator, assisting with the lung screening program, and managing the radiologist hotline. The Hospital and Physician Services Specialist plays a consistent, key role in problem-solving as issues arise.

      This position is part of a decentralized hospital management department.

      Requirements

      Job Specific Duties

      You'll play a vital role in the daily operations of our imaging department by ensuring radiology studies and communication flow efficiently and accurately. Your core responsibilities will include:
      • Preparing and organizing patient records, including retrieving prior images, reports, and other critical documentation for review.
      • Accurately entering and updating patient demographics, exam details, and radiology findings in the Radiology Information System (RIS) and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) in a timely manner.
      • Collaborating closely with technologists, radiologists, and support staff to ensure all necessary imaging studies are available for interpretation
      • Monitoring and managing the daily flow of studies to ensure timely assignment and delivery to radiologists for review.
      • Answering incoming phone calls promptly (within three rings) and professionally assisting referring physicians, staff, and other callers with their requests
      • Routing calls appropriately and utilizing hospital/practice systems to resolve issues efficiently when possible.
      • Ensuring that all received imaging studies are correctly ordered, linked, and documented for accurate interpretation.
      • Using designated systems and tools to document and process all hospital and external imaging as directed.
      • Maintaining accuracy and attention to detail when recording patient-related information and imaging data.
      • Responding to inquiries within the scope of your role and directing more complex questions to the appropriate personnel.
      • Consistently meeting productivity and performance benchmarks while delivering high-quality support.
      • Representing Raleigh Radiology in a manner aligned with our mission, vision, and values, ensuring courteous and professional interactions.
      • Monitoring RIS, Clario, and other hospital systems to identify issues or delays, especially STAT studies requiring urgent interpretation, and notifying radiologists accordingly.
      • Understanding the complete radiology workflow and proactively identifying bottlenecks or delays in service.
      • Managing and prioritizing incoming calls, emails, and requests from physicians, radiologists, and their support teams.
      • Retrieving and uploading external imaging when requested and ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete.
      • Calling and relaying reports to referring physicians as needed and documenting communication according to policy.
      • Collaborating with scheduling staff, technologists, and hospital personnel to support seamless patient care.
      • Identifying IT-related issues and applying working knowledge of systems to assist with troubleshooting and resolution.
      • Acting as the liaison between radiologists and IT, submitting service tickets and following up to ensure quick resolution of technical problems.
      • Monitoring the WithinHealth portal and handling incoming calls from patients and referring providers regarding alerts or notifications.
      • Adapting to evolving needs and responsibilities within the department and taking initiative to support ongoing improvements.
      • Performing other related tasks as assigned, always maintaining professionalism and a solutions-focused approach.

      EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE

      A. Education: MINIMUM: High School Graduate or equivalent.

      B. Experience: Minimum one year experience in a medical setting. Preference is given to applicants with previous experience in Radiology practice.

      C. Licensure: None as assigned.
