      What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
      - Accurately code inpatient conditions and procedures according to ICD guidelines
      - Determine and assign appropriate MS-DRG or APR-DRG for complex inpatient services
      - Collaborate with Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists to address documentation concerns
      - Assist with responses to DRG validation requests and inquiries related to coding
      - Identify and assign relevant codes for hospital acquired conditions and present on admission indicators

      What is Required (Qualifications):
      - Minimum education: AHIMA or AAPC approved Medical Coding Diploma or Health Information Management Degree
      - Minimum of three years of progressive inpatient coding experience in an acute care facility
      - Active credential of Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
      - Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy, and coding procedures
      - Must not have been excluded from participation in federally funded programs

      How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
      - Experience with electronic health record systems
      - Academic or level I or II trauma experience
      - AAPC credential with preference for CIC (Certified Inpatient Coder)
