What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Assign ICD-10 and DRG codes for claims concurrently while patients are in the hospital
- Provide specific coding expertise in various fields such as NCCI edits, CPT codes, and DRG's
- Collaborate to identify documentation gaps and trends for improvement
- Support higher-level analytics for CDI initiatives
- Develop, mentor, and train caregivers in coding and ICD-10/DRG code assignment
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Professional coding certificate through AHIMA
- Six years of work experience in inpatient hospital coding
- Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of government benefits and regulations related to healthcare
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- RHIT or RHIA Certification
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- Advanced expertise with national and local coding regulations
- Familiarity with queries
