What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Accurately review and code patient records in hospital acute inpatient services
- Meet defined coding accuracy and production standards while demonstrating knowledge of coding guidelines
- Analyze medical records to assign ICD diagnosis and procedure codes, CPT codes, and modifiers
- Notify coding leadership of trends for education and feedback to physicians
- Participate actively in performance improvement projects and serve as a Superuser for system testing
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 2 years of coding experience
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy/physiology, and reimbursement schemes
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Associate's degree in a related field
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification
