      General Description:
      The Human Resources Specialist - Licensure is responsible for supporting the licensure process for all professional level instructional staff within Richmond Public Schools (RPS). This position is an individual contributor within the Talent Office and typically collaborates with leadership, staff and candidates. The Human Resources Specialist - Licensure maintains an effective level of teacher licensure knowledge which impact the acquisition and retention of top education talent, and positions RPS as the employer of choice.

      Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

      • Receives, reviews and processes licensure applications, official college/university transcripts, verification of experience forms, and related documents
      • Conducts activities related to licensure to ensure that professional instructional employees are in compliance with the VDOE’s licensure regulations
      • Evaluates applicant information and transcripts to assess an applicant's ability to obtain Virginia teaching license and appropriate required endorsement(s)
      • Serves as the initial contact person and division resource for RPS employees’ questions and guidance needed on licensure and endorsements
      • Under the direction of the Senior Licensure Specialist, communicates licensure regulations, procedures, and deadlines to instructional staff and leaders
      • Collaborates with Senior Licensure Specialist and Recruiters to ensure appropriate tracking of all licensure activity and timely completion of state reports (i.e., IPAL and Title I reporting)
      • Performs other related duties as assigned

      Qualifications:

      • Associate’s degree in related field or equivalent training and experience
      • At least two years working knowledge of licensure policies and procedures for public school instructional and leadership staff preferred
      • Ability to maintain records and prepare reports
      • Technical experience with MS Office / Google Suite, HRIS systems and VDOE licensure database/tools
