      Job summary

      We are excited to be recruiting qualified counsellors that wish to continue their professional development here at Connect Health for our Talking Therapies (previously known as IAPT) counselling service in Hounslow. We are seeking individuals with post qualification experience looking to undertake a Person-Centred experiential Counselling for Depression (PCE-CfD) course, and we're offering fully funded places to do this!

      For full requirements and eligibility please see the attached job description. The successful post holder will be required to work a minimum of 22.5 hours per week with Connect in order to be eligible. This role is also face to face in our Hounslow service.

      Main duties of the job

      • Drawing on developed specialist skills in assessment and psychological therapies, as a counsellor you will provide high quality clinical assessments and review sessions whilst working closely with local stakeholders such as GPs and employment support services etc.
      • You will hold a clinical caseload providing IAPT compliant counselling at step 3 of the stepped care model, including more complex cases as appropriate, for individuals assessed and diagnosed with depression that are deemed suitable as meeting the criteria for counselling.
      • You will work within the remit of the accredited Counselling for Depression (CfD) training and support clinical and operational leaders in aspects of risk management and therapist support
      • Above all, you will be a passionate clinician, committed to driving the Talking Therapies / IAPT provision within our communities, and taking pride in making a difference to peoples lives

      You will support the Operations Manager and Senior Counsellor to deliver a high-quality and client centred service and also with regard to all aspects of risk management, managing any issues that arise across the service, and support the clinical aspects of service development.

      Were keen to innovate, especially when it comes to enhancing client outcomes, so youll be aware of, and keep up to date with advances in the spheres of psychological therapies and use this knowledge to drive and embrace change whilst srtiving for excellence.

      The main purpose of this is to work with our clients to assess the suitability of psychological interventions as well as formulate, implement, and evaluate therapy programmes for them.

      Providing high quality clinical and case management supervision and delivering quality clinical sessions to clients and patients whilst keeping up to date with advances in psychological therapies.

      The key duties of the job are split across Clinical, Professional and General objectives

      CLINICAL

      o Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service.

      o Assess clients for suitability for Counselling / therapy.

      o Formulate, implement and evaluate therapy programmes for clients.

      o Adhere to a mutually agreeable activity contract relating to the number of client contacts offered, and clinical sessions carried out per week to minimise waiting times and ensure treatment delivery remains accessible and convenient, in line with both Local, National and Service targets.

      o Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service.

      o Keep coherent records of all clinical activity in line with service protocols.

      o Work closely with other wider teams and staff ensuring appropriate step-up and step-down arrangements are in place to maintain a stepped care approach.

      o To undertake risk assessment and risk management and, where appropriate, identifying patients whose safety needs might need to be escalated / managed in a time sensitive manner.

      PROFESSIONAL

      Keep up to date on new recommendations/guidelines and legislation set by the Department of Health (e.g. IAPT Manual, NHS Plan, National Service Framework, National Institute for Clinical Excellence) and Primary Care Services

      Ensure that client confidentiality is protected at all times.

      Be aware of and keep up to date with advances in the spheres of psychological therapies.

      Ensure clear professional objectives are identified, discussed and reviewed with line management structure on a regular basis as part of continuing professional development.

      Attend clinical / case management supervision on a regular basis as agreed with Manager.

      Participate in individual performance reviews / appraisals and respond to agreed objectives.

      Keep up to date all records in relation to Continuous Professional Development and ensure personal development plan maintains up to date specialist knowledge of latest theoretical and service delivery models/developments.

      Carry out clinical audits of service performance, including service user surveys and evaluations, and help to collate and disseminate the results for feedback.

      To contribute to the development of best practice within the service.

      To adhere to Connect Healths Policies and Procedures, including clinical risk, safeguarding, other relevant measures and frameworks.

      • Qualified to Degree, MSc, MA, or Diploma level in Counselling.
      • BACP/UKCP accredited.
      • Significant counselling experience post qualification
      • Competence in and possession of a recognised theoretical model of counselling.
