      IFC’s regional office in Albania is seeking an intern as part of our Global Internship Program (GIP). The Global Internship Program (GIP) offers highly motivated individuals an opportunity to be exposed to the mission and work of IFC and the broader World Bank Group and become part of the largest private sector development institution in the world. The program encourages individuals to bring new perspectives and innovative ideas to IFC’s work, while improving skills in a diverse and highly stimulating environment. Moreover, the Global Internship Program provides a unique opportunity to exchange ideas and network with international professionals dedicated to ending extreme poverty and boosting prosperity in the developing world.

      Duties and Accountabilities:
      • Support the Country Team in CPSD follow up actions. This is expected to consist of activities such as:
      • Research and mapping of firms, both local and international, in three key sectors identified in the CPSD with the highest potential for growth: agriculture, tourism and autopart manufacturing. The intern will be expected to analyze the corporate and financial profile of mapped companies and recommend high value prospects.
      • Based on recommended actions in the CPSD, in the government’s Strategy for Business Development and Investment as well as government’s Economic Reform Program, identify those reforms that once implemented might open up space for private sector investment and increased opportunities for IFC intervention.
      • Preparation of marketing materials for client engagements in Albania, such as general or thematic pitchbooks for clients/government, input materials for our engagement with IBRFD and other development partners as well as materials for media engagement.

      Selection Criteria

      • Candidates must be currently enrolled in a Master’s degree level program
      • Preferred field of study: Economics; Masters in Business Administration (MBA)
      • 2-3 years of relevant work experience in development finance, financial consultancy, corporate finance, banking, and management consulting;
      • Emerging markets experience, particularly in Albania, and in any of the Western Balkan countries;
      • Strong research, analytical and communications skills;
      • Business development and client relationship management skills;
      • Comfort and enthusiasm with working in highly multicultural and cross-border teams;
      • Fluency in English; Albanian is a must;
      • Commitment to sustainable private sector development.
