Job Description

- Ensure timely and accurate preparation, filing, and payment of income taxes
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external tax advisors to develop and implement tax planning strategies to minimize the Company’s global tax burden.
- Serve as liaison between internal accounting/finance staff and our external income tax compliance partners to ensure that accurate required data is provided in a timely manner .
- Stay abreast of changes in tax laws, regulations, and rulings to assess their impact on the Company and provide recommendations accordingly
- Manage the Annual R&D Tax Credit process
- Timely and completely respond to inquiries from tax authorities in order to maintain Lutron’s reputation as a good corporate citizen in all jurisdictions in which we do business
- Manage tax controversies including drafting responses to audit inquiries, hosting auditors at Lutron locations, and defending the Company’s tax return filing positions.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and disclosures related to income taxes in accordance with applicable accounting standards
- Identify and assess tax risks and opportunities, developing and implementing controls to mitigate risks and optimize tax outcomes.
- Continuously evaluate and streamline tax processes and procedures to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
- Assist in the elimination of all material tax penalties and interest charges.
- Participate in ensuring tax payments are made accurately and in a timely manner
- Work with the broader tax team on projects related to tax optimization
- Support the Company’s many Strategic Initiatives by preparing guidance and recommendations to management that mitigate tax leakage
- Support compliance with transfer pricing policy
- Learn the impact of indirect taxes on business operations
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; MS in Taxation preferred, CPA license a plus
- Minimum, cumulative GPA of 3.0 for all degrees earned
- 8+ years of professional experience with experience in income tax compliance and planning
- Experience in a corporate tax department preferred
- In-depth knowledge of US Federal & State Income Tax code and regulations required, knowledge of US tax of foreign income and exposure to non-US jurisdictional taxes a plus
- General understanding of non-income taxes including sales, use, VAT, property, etc. preferred
- Proficiency in conducting tax research including interpreting primary sources like statutes, regulations, legislative intent, case law, and income tax treaties
OverviewLutron is seeking an experienced Income Tax Lead to join our Finance team reporting to our Senior Director and Tax Counsel out of our Corporate Headquarters in Coopersburg, PA. In this role, you will be responsible to project manage the US Federal and State income tax process by fostering open communications both within the Company , cross-functionally , and with outside income tax preparer partners. You will have accountability for ensuring compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations well within statutory deadlines with the highest levels of accuracy and integrity. Additionally, your role will involve conducting tax research, coordinating tax planning strategies, and providing guidance on tax-related matters to various departments.
Over time, you will ensure Lutron’s compliance with foreign and domestic income tax requirements, broaden your understanding of other tax types, and be challenged to identify opportunities to lower Lutron’s global tax burden. You will collaborate with your fellow Tax team members to increase efficiency and implement improvements in various operational tax processes including sales tax, use tax, VAT, and property tax areas.
