- Lead and manage relationships with Indigenous groups to build and sustain support and advocacy for TC Energy and its projects and operations through early and honest communication, by minimizing impacts, and building mutually beneficial partnerships, where the people that are most impacted by our work, benefit the most
- Provide issues management support and problem-solving with the team and others across the business to ensure priorities are achieved and issues are escalated and addressed in a timely and effective manner
- Work with the team to ensure the successful implementation of Indigenous hiring and business participation in TC Energy projects and operations
- Provide strategic support and guidance to the team as well as other internal teams to ensure the needs, interests and priorities of Indigenous communities are understood and considered in TC Energy projects and operations
- Represent the company in both Indigenous communities and public settings in a professional and skillful manner
- Collaborate with Indigenous Relations team members and business units to prioritize and manage business objectives, opportunities and risks
- Ensure consistent, timely communication and engagement internally and externally and drive deliverables and team performance
- Participate in negotiations and senior-level discussions with Indigenous communities
- Post-Secondary Education in a related field
- 4 - 6 years of industry experience, ideally related to pipeline or other large-scale industry projects
- Experience engaging with Indigenous Communities and working with representatives and community members to resolve complex and often contentious issues
- Knowledge of the federal and provincial regulatory processes and consultation guidelines, particularly as they are related to the energy industry in Canada
- Experience developing strategic relationships and partnerships
- Previous experience working in the midstream energy industry
- Direct experience and in-depth knowledge of Indigenous Relations issues, concerns and approaches to create opportunities to generate mutual benefit
- Proven facilitation and influencing abilities
- Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract (record) for review
- Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training (estimated up to 25% of work schedule)
- Stay overnight away from home base (estimated up 25% of work schedule)

The Opportunity
Our Canadian Indigenous Relations team is expanding our presence in Northern Alberta and is looking to add an Indigenous Relations Lead to our team, based in Fort McMurray, AB.
Reporting to the Manager, Indigenous Relations (Canada), this position leads the effective management of the TC Energy Indigenous Relations team in Northeastern Alberta. This is an externally facing team focused on building and maintaining strong relationships with Indigenous communities while delivering on TC Energy business objectives and requires a very close working / collaborative relationship with relevant TC Energy business units across leadership levels. Effective Indigenous participation and engagement is a key component of TC Energy's approach to Indigenous Relations, as outlined in TC Energy’s Reconciliation Action Plan.
