      Job Summary

      To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, this Summer, we’re looking to add an Industrial Engineering (Business Excellence) Intern located in our Buffalo Grove, IL site.

      Reporting to the Business Excellence Manager, the student will assist with daily engineering tasks while learning, collaborating and working alongside Engineers and cross-functional teams.

      What a typical day looks like:

      • Leads and supports initiatives to increase throughput, reduce cost and improve performance in constrained areas like LEAN, Automation and Six Sigma projects.
      • Collaborate with Engineering Teams and Direct Labor to support layout changes on the shopfloor, identify and implement changes oriented for space optimization and material workflow.
      • Update/audit standard times across the factory for high runners and support direct labor functions.
      • Develop an SGA (small group activity) program for direct labor.
      • Attend team meetings and support project work as needed.

      Student qualities we’re seeking for this internship assignment:

      • Currently enrolled Senior student pursuing degree in Industrial Engineering or related major (August 2024 – May 2025 graduates)
      • Experience with LEAN Six Sigma process improvement methodologies
      • Microsoft Office Suite
      • Intermediate AutoCAD skills
      • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
      • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
      • Enthusiastic about working in a manufacturing environment
      • Highly collaborative, creative and excellent communication skills
      • Previous internship experience a plus!

      Internship Program Requirements:

      • Available to start on June 3rd and work 40 hours/week (in-person) for 10-12 week Summer assignment
      • Currently enrolled in 4-year accredited university
      • 3.0 minimum GPA
