      Overview of Responsibilities

      • Accurately process patient information and perform job duty assignments.

      • Remain at the desk to assist volunteers in courteously greeting guests, and to make sure volunteers escort and direct to the correct destination.

      • Courteously answers questions and gives general information to guests.

      • Quickly determine where patients or guests need to be by using software applications including but not limited to EPIC and patient directory.

      • Maintain a neat and orderly Information Desk area and podium on the second floor atrium.

      • Maintain a neat and safe lobby with appropriate number of wheelchairs available for patients, visitors, and guests.

      • Follow Information Desk policies and procedures and keep volunteers informed of changes.

      • Transfer phone calls to appropriate areas of Reid Health.

      • Coordinate activities of the Information Desk volunteers.

      • Make immediate contact with Reid Police in the event of unauthorized entry, intruders, or other unusual or questionable security situations.

      • Maintain music in the lobby.

      • Orient new Information Desk volunteers, including ongoing education.

      • Report concerns, problems, and issues to the volunteer services manager.

      • Maintain adequate supplies by sending supply requests to the volunteer services secretary.

      • Understand procedures, medical terms, and services offered by all hospital departments.

      • Work in a high stress environment responding courteously to numerous phone calls, interruptions, or patient/guest visits over short periods of time.

      • Must handle negative situations with a positive, pleasant manner in order to resolve them with a positive outcome.

      Education/Experience

      • High School diploma.

      • Previous experience in customer service preferred.

      Schedule Details

      Evening Shift. 12 hours weekly. Wednesday from 1:00 PM-6:00 PM Cover PTO for 2 other Information desk staff
