      Job summary

      The post holder will support the Informatics Manager in ensuring the IT provision for the organisation is fit for purpose, ensuring the effective running of our Lancaster Medical Practice sites. The role will also be responsible for supporting the Informatics Manager in the implementation of the Practices Informatics strategy across the Practice, ensuring projects are delivered within agreed timescales and scope.

      You will liaise with all members of the Informatics Team, other managers, clinicians and all staff across the organisation.

      Main duties of the job

      Key Duties/Responsibilities:

      • Investigate and resolve problems in the day-to-day use of computers, printers, telephone and other IT related hardware equipment and software.
      • Ensure that problems and difficulties are triaged effectively, solved when within scope of the role and passed to external suppliers and colleagues where more appropriate or out of scope.
      • Ensure a call log is maintained for all support calls, recording accurately problemsand resolution steps taken.
      • Assist with the identificationof opportunities for improvement within software systems and processes, recommend alternatives and undertake appropriate change projects in response.
      • Support the design and delivery of clinical templates to ensure excellent system optimisation.
      • To become an expert in all aspects of the clinical systems and to be able to train other users, both clinical and non-clinical, in the best use of systems.
      • To be responsible for the set-up and deactivation of user accounts for all systems (e.g. CANL, Emis) plus any changes in permissions due to role changes.
      • To maintain the system users log in inline with DSP Toolkit requirements.
      • Assist in the installation and configuration of hardware and network arrangements across the Practice, including any upgrades as required.
      • Report any issues affecting the effective running of the Practice's IT network and e-mail system.
      • Support with the delivery of projects to enhance and optimise patient care and ways of working across the organisation.
