What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Codes and abstracts patient medical information according to coding conventions and guidelines
- Completes data entry of diagnosis and procedure codes into the health information system
- Maintains data quality coding accuracy rate
- Keeps up-to-date knowledge of coding conventions and payment systems
- Participates in department meetings and educational sessions
What is Required (Qualifications):
- RHIA, RHIT, or CCS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of demonstrated ICD-10-CM coding experience in acute care setting
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, and medical terminology
- Previous experience with EPIC health information system preferred
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in coding
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience with the 3M encoding system
- Familiarity with AMA CPT-4 coding conventions
- Previous experience in a teaching setting
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
