What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Review medical records to determine appropriate procedural terminology and medical codes (e.g., ICD-10-CM, CPT)
- Confirm appropriate diagnosis-related group (DRG) assignments upon appeal
- Analyze, enter, and manipulate database information
- Respond to internal requests for medical information and clarify as needed
- Make decisions on moderately complex issues regarding technical approaches for project components
What is Required (Qualifications):
- RHIA, RHIT, or CCS Certification
- At least 2 years of experience in acute inpatient coding and/or MS-DRG auditing
- Recent experience auditing using CMS Manual, LCD, NCD, and Coding Guidelines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Associate's Degree or higher in Health Information Management (HIM)
- Experience in financial recovery
- Experience in a fast-paced, metric-driven operational setting
- Experience in APR DRG coding/auditing
