Exercises independent judgment pertaining to the investigation and handling to resolution of high-exposure SIU Homeowner claims.
Claims handled range from simple fraud cases to those of the highest levels of complexity and risk. Collaborates and interacts with adjuster staff in the review of suspected fraudulent claims.
Performs claim review, data research, case analysis, and formulation of actual investigative strategy/plan.
Investigates background and history on claims.
Takes statements and collects written documents; analyzes information and evidence to determines if fraud exists in claim.
Performs analysis of underwriting and sales documents.
Determines the need for and engages attorneys, expert witnesses, and independent adjusters/ private investigators.
Assists Defense Counsel with the coordination of files in preparation and attendance for examination under oath.
Responsible for management through conclusion, including trial, of litigated claims.
Participates in legal activities - oversees defense counsel and experts; and represents and testifies on behalf of the company in criminal, civil and small claims court.
Recommends course of action and seeks approval authority from supervisor or manager as appropriate.
At conclusion of evaluation, independently negotiates claim to reach final resolution.
Serves as Subject Matter Expert for large-exposure property claims.
Acts as liaison to the insurance industry and law enforcement and refers suspected fraudulent claims to NICB, Departments of Insurance and/or Attorneys General.
Assists with file reviews and assignment triage. Actively contributes to SIU training.
While majority of work will be focused on Homeowner investigations there may be times when assistance with auto investigations is needed; experience in auto claims is a plus.

Travels as needed for role, including local travel as well as occasional divisional / team meetings and other in-person meetings.
Fulfills business needs, which may include investing extra time, helping other teams, etc.
Bachelor's degree in related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
5+ years of experience handling complex claims, preferably in multiple claims disciplines, i.e., Homeowners, Automobile, Casualty, etc.
Depending on assignment, may be required to acquire and maintain Adjuster’s license (state-specific).
Knowledge of state and federal insurance regulations and all lines of business coverages with an understanding of anti-fraud laws.
Demonstrated advanced understanding of our insurance policies with a focus on 1st party homeowners’ property and personal property, preferably with experience handling complex coverage analysis.
Advanced analytical, investigative, and negotiation skills.
Outstanding communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Detailed knowledge and understanding of Homeowner property claims handling processes and procedures.
Familiarity with, and ability to perform, searches of investigative databases, internal resources, internet resources, social media, public records, and forensic tools.
Extensive understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements and ability to develop proficiency in standards of civil procedure.
Ability to write quality investigative summaries/reports documenting the findings of the investigation and relevant evidence gathered.
Ability to travel and work extended hours.
CPCU certification.
Litigation experience.
Shows respect for differences through excellent communication skills with people from an array of backgrounds.

Your Work:
As an SIU Homeowner Specialist, you are responsible for conducting in-depth investigations of suspicious and potentially fraudulent homeowners' property/personal property claims in a dynamic fast paced environment. Investigations range from low complexity to those of the highest levels of complexity and exposure. As the SIU Specialist, you will develop an investigative strategy, conduct interviews, gather evidence, analyze information, and prepare reports for case recommendation. You will work collaboratively with the claims staff, service, counsel, independent investigators, and law enforcement. In this role, you will support CSAA's anti-fraud initiatives and commitment to the detection and prevention of insurance fraud.

The national average annual salary range for this position is $79,650-$88,500. However, we have a location-based compensation structure. Our salary ranges vary and are calculated based on county of residence. The full annual salary range for this position across all the states we hire in is $71,730-$106,300. This role also includes an opportunity for a company-wide annual discretionary bonus, through our Annual Incentive Plan (AIP), of up to 8% of eligible pay.
