    • Maintain regular and good work attendance to meet the requirements of the duties in the classroom.
    • Work constructively and cooperatively with the instructional team and others in the school and district.
    • Respond to information requests in a courteous, timely, and helpful manner.
    • Access, input, and retrieve information from technology resources.
    • Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information.
    • Assist students is performing activities/lessons that have been initiated by the teacher.
    • Aid the teacher with small group activities such as drilling with flash cards, spelling and center activities.
    • Assist the teacher in preparing instructional materials for the class.
    • Hear requests for help, observe learning difficulties from pupils, and report such matters to teacher.
    • Score objective test and papers and keep appropriate records for the teacher.
    • Escort children on educational trips outside the classroom with teacher.
    • Support the teacher or other professional staff on various activities (lunch, P.E., etc.).
    • Prepare bulletin boards and other materials.
    • Supervise classroom activity when the teacher is out of the room.
    • Supervising various activities (as assigned by teacher).
    • Performs other related duties as assigned for ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
    • Instructional Assistant - Classroom

      Purpose Statement
      The job of Instructional Assistant - Classroom is done for the purpose/s of working under the supervision of the classroom teacher. The assignment of an Instructional Assistant - Classroom to a classroom is determined by the size of a class and is a temporary assignment. The Instructional Assistant - Classroom frees the teacher from routine daily task and serves as a member of the instructional team.

      This job reports to School Principal and supervising teacher.

      Essential Functions

      Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications
      Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

      SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications; preparing and maintaining accurate records; and adhering to safety practices and procedures.

      KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and understand complex, multi-step written and
      oral instructions. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include concepts of grammar and punctuation; basic math; stages of
      child development and learning styles; and age appropriate activities.

      ABILITY is required to schedule activities; collate data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals; work with similar types of data; and utilize job-related equipment. Problem solving with data may require independent interpretation; and problem solving with
      equipment is limited to moderate. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include communicating with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; setting priorities; working as part of a team; and working with constant interruptions.

      Responsibility
      Responsibilities include working under direct supervision using standardized procedures; providing information and/or advising others; operating within a defined budget. There is a continual opportunity to have some impact on the organization’s services.

      Work Environment
      The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 50% sitting, 15% walking, and 35% standing. The job is performed in a generally hazard free environment.

      Experience: Job related experience is desired.

      Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

      Equivalency: Successful completion of 48 college hours or ability to pass a state approved assessment within 90 days of employment is required.
