      Description:

      The Staff Instrument & Controls (I&C) Engineer will work on the MPC Robinson Project which is a Refinery for their client Megaton in Kansas City. There are a number of small projects in a huge program.They will work with design teams throughout the Engineering/design, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) process to create designs for grassroots and revamp/brown field refining and chemical projects. They will adapt I&C plans according to assigned budget, schedule, engineering/design standards, and client requirements. Assist in providing deliverables for Front End Planning (FEP) and Detailed Design phases and support construction phase.

      Duties:

      Prepare instrumentation engineering/design deliverables, including Instrument Index, Instrument Data Sheets, Instrument Installation Details, Instrument Location Plans, Wiring Diagrams, and Loop Diagrams.

      Prepare control systems (DCS and/or PLC) and Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) Data Sheets.

      Prepare controls design deliverables, including I/O list, Process Control Narratives, Graphic Sketches, Cause & Effect Diagrams, Alarm Rationalization, and manage third party control system suppliers to comply with the control system design requirements, including participating in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT).

      Prepare I&C purchase specifications, review bids, make technical recommendations and manage the overall purchase, review of I&C packages, and review of vendor documentation.

      Develop P&ID's for various projects.

      Perform process measurements such as temperature, pressure, flow, level, analyzers, and control valves. Utilize knowledge of various technologies for selecting appropriate I&C application.

      Perform preliminary sizing calculations for instruments such as orifice plates, controls valves, relief valves, and thermowells.

      Develop level sketches in conjunction with multiple departments.

      Responsible for applying knowledge of commonly used I&C engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the engineering services industry.

      Ability to make informal and formal presentations, inside and/or outside the organization.

      Additional Skills & Qualifications:

      MUST HAVE:

      3-7 years experience as an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer

      Oil & Gas Refineries

      Focus on instrumentation rather than automation or controls

      Proficient in Smart Plant in the development of instrument datasheets

      Ability to work on 1-2 $100-400M projects at a time

      PLC or DCS experience (either is acceptable, both is an advantage)

      NICE TO HAVE:

      Power industry experience

      P.Eng, wont be stamping

      Will consider an EIT

      SOFT SKILLS:

      Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)

      Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.

      Strong knowledge in how other disciplines interact

      Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
