What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Perform intake functions by interviewing clients over the phone and occasionally in person to gather necessary information for advocacy services
- Manage agency call logs to ensure timely responses and adherence to customer service standards
- Compile and enter intake information into the agency's database and assign priority intakes for follow-up by advocacy staff
- Participate in outreach efforts to educate the community about the services provided by the organization
- Collaborate with other intake specialists to maintain an efficient flow of intakes through the organization's processes
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Four years of relevant work experience providing information and assistance to individuals with disabilities or a bachelor's degree in a related field
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with clients and diverse communities, including excellent listening and writing skills
- Computer proficiency in email, word processing, and use of Microsoft applications
- Experience dealing with individuals in stressful situations
- Direct contact experience with persons from culturally diverse backgrounds
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience with disability advocacy or social justice movements
- Knowledge of resources relevant to disability-related services in Wisconsin
- Ability to communicate in Spanish, Hmong, or American Sign Language (ASL) in addition to English
- Advocacy experience involving outreach, training, or technical assistance
- Experience using computerized databases
