- Lead and work effectively and autonomously on complex, time-sensitive projects/tasks with minimal technical direction
- Support multiple research tasks and task teams to:
- Develop research protocols, study materials, and IRB documentation
- Develop and execute experimental design, implement experimental procedures, and troubleshoot
- Collect research data using experimental protocol
- Develop surveys and questionnaire
- Maintain complex research databases, as well as verify integrity and validity of data
- Process, analyze, and interpret research data
- Complete all aspects of literature reviews: define appropriate search strategies, compile pertinent information and findings, and provide guidance for developing relevant research strategies
- Write or contribute to project-related technical reports and manuscripts (e.g., scientific writing, statistics communication, charts/plots)
- Develop summary reports/presentations and present work to research sponsors, peer groups, and industry partners at conferences, as required
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
- Phd or ABD preferred. Masters (plus 4 years related research experience) OR Bachelors (plus 6 years related research experience). Degree should be in one of the following or related program where research in social science is evident: Industrial Organizational Psychology, Human Computer Interaction, Engineering/Ergonomic Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Experimental Psychology, Human Factors, or User Experience (UX).

- Expertise using MS Office suite products
- Expertise in Statistics for the Social Sciences (SPSS)
- Expertise to perform and interpret statistical analyses (parametric)
- Experience in organizational development, decision theory, human performance/human factors, and/or job and task analysis and individual assessment
- Experience managing complex databases, structure data for analyses, and interpret results of analyses
- Experience performing all aspects of literature reviews and write annotated bibliographies/results reports
- Experience leading research teams
- Experience in the development of specialized measurement instruments and experimental protocols
- Ability to work independently, as a member of a team, and as a team lead
- Strong communication skills (verbal, written, and oral presentation)
- Ability to perform and interpret multivariate statistical analyses (non-parametric and modeling techniques)
- Expertise with R, RStudio, MATLAB, Python
- Experience with augmented reality or virtual reality research
- Experience with eye tracking or motion tracking research
- Experience with human factors, aviation, aerospace, flight deck, advanced vision systems, and/or simulators research
Intermediate II Human Factors Computer Scientist Researcher (Part-Time)
Tasks required by this position include the ability to organize, lead, and perform human factors research activities in accordance with the regulatory agency requirements of the Federal Aviation Administration. Position requires the ability to work independently, work as a member of a team, and work as a team lead overseeing and organizing the activities of other team members. Candidate must be to able to prioritize multiple projects. This position requires planning, preparation, and conduct of human factors research projects to quantify and assess human performance data in a variety of laboratory or field conditions or from existing data. Position requires ability to perform and interpret statistical analyses. Candidate should have experience in organizational development, decision theory, human performance/human factors, and/or job and task analysis and individual assessment. Excellent writing skills, as well as good verbal and oral presentation communication skills are required. Candidate must have demonstrated success working in a time-sensitive, teaming environment while performing directly relevant tasks.
Compensation & Benefits:
Estimated Starting Salary Range for Intermediate II Human Factors Computer Scientist Researcher: $35.50 – $40/hour.
Pay commensurate with experience.
