Job Description

- Work with a team of engineers, scientists, and project managers
- Perform technology research, including field surveys, trade studies, and comparative analysis
- Assist in electrical and/or mechanical design of robotic and mechatronic systems
- Write prototype software to interface and test libraries, sensors, hardware, and external systems
- Utilize and/or modify existing code bases and libraries; create and shape new functionality
- Conduct field testing and evaluation of components, systems, and products
- High school graduate
- Currently enrolled in post-secondary program pursuing, or planning to pursue, a degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong written and communication skills
- Strong background in math and physics
- Proficient in data analysis
- Experience with integrating, testing and deploying prototype robotic and/or electromechanical systems
- Current or past participation in extracurricular student engineering competitions is strongly preferred
- Mechanical design, CAD
- Electrical design, PCB layout, ECAD
- Software development for embedded microcontrollers (e.g. MSP430, Arduino)
- Object-oriented programming (e.g. Java, C++, Python, C#) with the ability to write clean, well-documented code
- Computer Vision (OpenCV)
- Machine/Deep Learning (TensorFlow, PyTorch), Parallel Computing (Jetson, Tegra)
- Software tools such as ROS, Unity, Excel, MATLAB

Overview
The Autonomous Systems group at BlueHalo (Labs Division) has multiple open positions for 2024 Summer Interns. We are looking for self-motivated individuals with a passion for robotics and engineering. You will be working with the engineers & scientists to develop custom solutions in swarm autonomy, AI/ML-enabled robotics systems, modeling & simulation, command & control, and remote sensing.
This opportunity is for Summer 2024 (typically start in May or June, lasting 10 weeks or longer).
NOTE: This is NOT a remote opportunity. The hardware/hands-on nature of this role requires you to be present in the office (Rockville MD). However, you may not need to present every day, so there may be some work from home days (schedules will vary).
