- Will undertake, initially, a range of administrative and support tasks for the Munitions Engineering department.
- These tasks will provide the opportunity to apply basic Engineering skills in a highly active environment.
- Based on experience and abilities the intern will be assigned tasks of increasing complexity that are appropriate to the level of education and skills
- As part of the intern position, the department will have the opportunity to get to know the candidate and their suitability for a potential future position within the company
- Familiarity with CAD or CAE applications, such as CREO, to create and/or modify part and assembly level geometry.
- Familiarity with basic machining methodologies
- Experience in planning and conducting experiments and tests in a lab environment.
- Familiarity with instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
- Applies standard practices and techniques in the completion of specific assignments. Prepares data for analysis by experienced engineers.
- Conducts engineering analysis of simple problems relating to overall design of gas generation systems which require only limited application of standard principles
- Ability to perform trade studies and parametric analyses
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Provides support to technical employees working in an organizational function related to the Intern's area of study.
- Assists with technical tasks and project support.
- Supports equipment set up and monitors tests and experiments.
- Observes results, collects data, and compiles summaries and reports.
- Learns technical processes and procedures.
- Job shadows other more experienced professionals and or support staff.
- May also support the documentation & updates of procedures or work instructions.
- Handles basic issues and problems
- Must be currently enrolled majoring in Engineering Aerospace, Mechanical, Chemical or similar Engineering or technical degree program and/or be within 6 months of graduation
- Microsoft Office Applications including Outlook, Excel, Word, and Powerpoint
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work well with a diverse employee population are essential
- Must demonstrate organizational and prioritization skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, using discretion and independent judgement

Overview
General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GD-OTS), a premier provider of ordnance weapons and tactical systems to the U.S. Department of Defense and allied nations, has an opening for an R&D Engineer Intern to join the Munitions (MUN) Business Unit (BU) Engineer team at our Bothell, WA site.

Pay Range (USD)
$23.58 - $28.17Pay Transparency Statement
The salary range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum for salary for this position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, internal equity, and relevant education or training.
