    • High School Diploma or GED required (must be willing to obtain the PA Paraeducator Credential of Competency Certificate within one year)
    • Associates degree or higher OR completion of two (2) years of post-secondary education OR 48 credit hours from an accredited college or university; Bachelor’s Degree preferred
    • Experience working with secondary students with special needs preferred.
    • Teaching or training abilities and experience are preferred.
    • Ability to provide own transportation is required to travel amongst job sites as needed located throughout Montgomery County.
    • Knowledgeable and experienced in taking student data; experience utilizing direct-instruction programs, and experience using online learning systems.
    • Ability to handle confidential information, enjoy working with students with disabilities, establish and maintain a rapport with students, and able to understand the needs and feelings of students.
    • Ability to work as a member of a team, be courteous and able to deal effectively with people, able to work in an environment with frequent interruptions.
    • Ability to cope with needs and behavior patterns of children, able to withstand emotional stress, must have a warm, friendly, helpful personality.
    • Ability to follow written and verbal directions, ability to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision, ability to read, write, and do simple computation.
    • Ability to complete Safety Cares training and CPR/First Aid training.
    • Ability to work independently, make work-related decisions, and exercise good judgement with student interaction.
    • Original certificates of clearance from the State Police, Child Abuse Registry, and PDE FBI.
    • Assist in the delineation of tasks required for performance on the job.
    • Orient/model, for the student, the steps required for satisfactory completion of the job.
    • On-site job training of student(s).
    • Daily consultation with job supervisor/transition teacher.
    • Collection of student progress data during training period.
    • Assist in remediation of on-site, job-related problems.
    • Assist with site development.
    • Prepare a weekly log of activities and a monthly summary report to be submitted to the transition teacher and the supervisor of transition programs,.
    • Assist with contacts/follow-up of help wanted advertisements.
    • Meet with transition teacher/supervisor of transition programs as directed.
    • Provide 1:1 support for an assigned student as needed.
    • Assist with additional responsibilities as assigned by the teacher.
    • Present a positive image of the Intermediate Unit, its programs and services.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
    • Starting at $19.18/hour for High School Diploma/Associate's Degree
    • Starting at $20.15/hour for Bachelor's Degree

      Vacancies exist for a Job Coach / Personal Care Assistant to work within the Office of Student Services – Transition at the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit. This full time position works with transition-age students at work sites throughout Montgomery County to learn job skills. These positions are available starting the 2024 - 2025 school year.

      Qualifications:

      Location:
      The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit is located in Norristown, PA and provides services to students located throughout Montgomery County, PA. These positions will be located at the MCIU'S new Discovery Center (375 Morris Rd. Lansdale, PA 19446).       Work Schedule:
      Monday-Friday, 7 hours/day, 10 months (194 days/year)

      Hourly Rate:
      • Starting at $19.18/hour for High School Diploma/Associate's Degree
      • Starting at $20.15/hour for Bachelor's Degree
