We are looking for Specialists and Team Members to join us in crafting a wide variety of vehicles from the Mercedes-Maybach GLS SUV to our all-electric electric vehicle, the EQS SUV and EQE SUV. Our Tuscaloosa County site is home to the production of Mercedes’ luxury SUV models, including electric vehicles. Just down the road in Bibb County, MBUSI has launched the production of high-performance lithium-ion batteries. Our two campuses are among the most advanced automotive manufacturing facilities in the world, with over 6 million square feet combined.

      Essential Functions:

      • Direct support to the Sustainability Lead of Mercedes-Benz U.S. International, Inc.
      • Identify new measures, evaluate measures for technical feasibility, and prioritize which measures should be implemented according to resources available
      • Analyzing overall project benefits across the areas of energy supply decarbonization, energy efficiency, water conservation, waste avoidance, and VOC reduction
      • Ensuring the Green Production Database system has accurate quantitative and qualitative data updated regularly for all MBUSI measures and ideas
      • Working with Subject Matter Experts across multiple disciplines to identify any obstacles to project implementation and facilitate solutions to those obstacles by supporting the Subject Matter Expert with resources they may need (funding allocation, feasibility analysis, business case calculation, third-party analysis, etc.)
      • The intern will also maintain and track the financial records associated with our monthly utility usage for cost optimization and auditing purposes

      Other Regular Daily Tasks:

      • Ensure measurement devices for electricity, natural gas, and water are functioning properly and communicating accurate data.
      • Perform analysis, create reports, and identify trends from electricity, natural gas, water, and waste data. (Ex: shop specific energy reports)
      • Perform and collect monthly air emissions data requirements for VOC calculations
      • Support with regulatory audits and complete environmental inspections
      • Conduct efficiency and optimization studies based on internal utility meters
      • Maintain Green Production related KPIs with up-to-date information

      QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Experience and Necessary Skills all must be met in order to qualify for position.

      Education:
      Student in: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering or in a related area, and/or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

      Necessary Skills, Certifications, etc.:

      • Fluent in English (oral/written)
      • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

      Preferred Skills:

      • Project Management skills
      • Engineering skills
      • Strong communication skills
      • Experience with CAD (Solidworks, Siemens NX)
      • Comfortable in manufacturing environment

      Preferred Start Date :

      • July/August 2025

      Benefits:

      • Paid internship - hourly rate $18
      • Coverage of visa costs
      • $700 housing bonus

      Requirements :

      • Currently enrolled in University or in a gap year between Bachelor's and Master’s degree
      • Studies outside of the U.S.A
      • A minimum of 3 semesters of studies in relevant field of study
      • Available for a minimum of 6 months
