      Ferguson is currently seeking the right individual to fill an immediate need for an Inventory Control Assistant.

      This role is approved to be either Remote within the United States or Hybrid for associates in Newport News, VA in accordance with company policy.

      Job Function and Responsibilities

      An Inventory Control Assistant at Ferguson within the Facilities Supply Customer Group is responsible for supporting Sales & Operations Planning by acting as a key liaison between our sales team and the Supply Chain department at headquarters. This role plays a vital part in ensuring effective coordination and communication across channel partners, suppliers, intermediaries, and internal stakeholders. The Inventory Control Assistant helps integrate supply and demand planning across our DCs, MDCs and IMI+ locations, working to align key business functions into a cohesive and high-performing operational model. Success in this role requires a proactive, detail-oriented individual who can foster cross-functional collaboration and contribute to efficient, data-driven inventory and fulfillment processes.

      Areas of Impact:

      This role executes responsibilities in alignment with established procedures and standard operating guidelines. Tasks are generally routine and well-defined, with clear instructions provided to ensure consistency and adherence to standardized solutions. Additionally, this position supports continuous improvement efforts by providing feedback on process efficiency and helping identify potential enhancements to current processes.

      Problem Solving:

      Challenges encountered in this role are typically routine, with well-defined solutions. The position requires following established procedures and familiar processes to effectively resolve issues and complete tasks. Although this position typically does not require navigating complex problems, it does require attention to detail and the ability to recognize when issues should be escalated to the appropriate team members or leadership for further review. Consistent application of process knowledge and adherence to guidelines is essential for maintaining workflow and supporting overall team performance.

      Job Duties:

      • Perform advanced inventory management responsibilities using Power BI and other data monitoring tools to support day-to-day operations.
      • Provide inventory support for assigned regions, which may include alignment with specific business segments and vendor groups.
      • Execute complex and non-routine tasks while offering technical guidance to the sales team by leveraging expertise in inventory management solutions.
      • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Field Sales, Category Management, Supply Chain, and Blended Business Partners.
      • Implement and maintain effective Inventory Support and Inventory Control practices to ensure responsible, strategic, and efficient inventory management across the network FFS is responsible for managing.
      • Utilize Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Power BI, Excel, and other platforms to communicate and solution for our customer group.
      • Demonstrate proactive communication, including timely updates and follow-through, while maintaining strong organization and prioritization of tasks in a fast-paced environment.
      • Engage actively during hybrid team meetings, contributing to discussions and maintaining a professional presence with camera on where appropriate.
      • Adhere to Company compliance and Health Safety and Environment (HSE) policies, procedures and requirements.
      • Ensure compliance with Company policies and Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards.
      • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
      • Additional tasks and special projects as assigned.

      Does not have direct budgetary authority but may contribute as part of a team responsible for meeting goals within an established budget. Supports budget adherence through effective execution of assigned responsibilities and resource awareness.

      Qualifications and Requirements

      Prior Experience:

      1+ Years Sales or Sales Operations experience preferred. Applies basic to intermediate job knowledge of systems and procedures that are relevant to position.

      • Knowledge of FEL’s inventory and logistics system preferred but not required (Trilogie)

      Physical Requirements:

      • Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions
      • Requires giving and/or receiving verbal communication
      • Requires giving and/or receiving written communication
      • Requires using a computer keyboard and mouse to create letters, memoranda and reports.
      • Requires sitting for extended periods
