Job Description
- Req#: 2472569
Amazon Web Services (AWS), a subsidiary of Amazon.com, is the industry’s leading cloud computing platform. The AWS Startup Acquisition and Customer Experience (ACE) team is seeking a collaborative, self-directed technical business developer with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, financial and business acumen, and a passion for startups, to join an organization that is responsible for driving adoption of the AWS platform by startups globally.
The ACE Investments team manages all startup credit and cash investment mechanisms, including AWS’s flagship startup credit program, AWS Activate. Since its inception in 2013, over 280,000 startups around the globe have joined AWS Activate, and AWS Activate has provided over $6 billion in AWS Promotional Credits to startups globally. We discover and support startups around the world by collaborating with a network of Activate Providers such as VC’s, accelerators, incubators, and startup enabling organizations.
To achieve our customer acquisition, adoption, and ROI goals, the Investments team optimizes the design of credit offer amounts, channels, and eligibility criteria, and manages the annual budget for Activate credits. As an Investments Manager, you will be part of the team continually working backwards from our customers to improve the Activate program. You will be expected to achieve your goals by adeptly balancing BD/sales/marketing objectives (acquisition), customer success objectives (growth and retention), and investor/finance objectives (ROI, LTV). In addition to obsessing over our startup customers, you will coordinate with a series of cross-functional stakeholders across AWS.
Functional depth in marketing, BD, finance, and data analysis are critical. First-hand experience with startups and VC / pre-VC funding are essential. You will empathize with the startup experience, and have an innate understanding of entrepreneurs, company founders and technical decision makers at early-stage companies, and be passionate about helping build new ideas for that community. Ideally, you are someone that has had experience designing and developing new products or programs targeted at the startup community, and have the technical ability to dive deep with ACE Product & Engineering to drive requirements to automate and deliver customer benefits at scale. You should be familiar and interested in driving innovation in customer facing products, and have a track record of owning successful, metrics-driven development plans. You must be able to work with and influence different teams across organizations to work toward a common goal.
You will have the ability to earn trust with startup founders, as well as work cross-functionally across the Amazon organization. You have a keen sense of ownership, drive, and scrappiness.
Key job responsibilities

- Design and implement solutions based on your understanding of the customer’s pain point
- Develop measurement frameworks to gauge the efficacy of your solutions; course correct and iterate as needed
- Communicate insights, lessons learned and results to your team, cross functionally and to executive leadership
