- Strategic Planning: Develops and implements comprehensive IT disaster recovery and business continuity strategies aligned with organizational objectives; Collaborates with key stakeholders to assess risks, identify critical processes, and establishes recovery time objectives (RTO) and recovery point objectives (RPO).
- Plan Development and Documentation: Leads the creation and documentation of detailed disaster recovery and business continuity plans for IT systems and critical business processes; Ensures plans are regularly reviewed, updated, and aligned with industry standards.
- Testing and Validation: Orchestrates regular testing and validation exercises in collaboration with Application, Infrastructure, and business teams to assess the effectiveness of disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Analyzes test results, identifies areas for improvement, and implements corrective actions.
- Training and Awareness: Collaborates with cross-functional teams to integrate disaster recovery and business continuity considerations into IT projects and initiatives; Communicates effectively with internal teams, vendors, and external partners during incidents.
- Compliance and Reporting: Ensures that disaster recovery and business continuity plans comply with industry regulations and standards; Generates regular reports on the status of disaster recovery preparedness and key performance indicators.
- Collaborates with North American Region & Global Mining Solutions IT Security team on matters of cybersecurity policy, posture, customer communications, incident response. Contributes to the global Komatsu cybersecurity strategy and maintains alignment with business stakeholders.
- Interacts with Komatsu NARGM Business Stakeholders – collaborating on risk management, training, HR, and compliance.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Continuity Management, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
- 5+ years IT experience including proven experience in disaster recovery and business continuity planning with a minimum 1+ year of prior leadership experience.
- In-depth knowledge of industry best practices, standards, and regulations related to disaster recovery and business continuity.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Preferred Skills: Certification in Business Continuity Planning (e.g., CBCP, CBCI); Familiarity with relevant technologies, tools, and methodologies; Experience in conducting risk assessments and business impact analysis.

Job Overview
We have a newly created opportunity for an IT Manager, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery to join our corporate IT team. In this role you will be responsible for safeguarding Komatsu against unforeseen disruptions through development, implementation, and maintenance of comprehensive disaster recovery and business continuity strategies. This is a critical role in mitigating risk in the face of disasters, contributing to the overall resilience and stability of our business by applying industry best practices to the creation of a robust plan, development of procedural documentation and execution of testing exercises. Additionally, the manager leads training and awareness programs to ensure that relevant stakeholders are prepared for disaster recovery and business continuity procedures.
