OVERVIEW: This position is primarily responsible for providing technical and administrative support for the University operating systems and a variety of application software.
BUSINESS CONTRIBUTION: The IT Staff meet the goals and objectives of the company through existing hardware and software in use to maximize efficiency of the network and users' utilization of them. The IT Staff is responsible for: Setup network hardware (memory/application installation) components as required. Install drive formatting/applications as well as file maintenance. Responds to the needs and questions of users concerning their access of resources on the network.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Installs and maintains support to University phone and computer systems. Installs and maintains support to University workstations, laptops, printers and copiers Add and maintain users on the network; assigning application access, ensuring security, and maintaining their configurations are within standards. Sets up all new employees and changes within the University. Install new software applications or hardware when necessary. Maintains and updates the IP phone system (VOIP) Maintains and updates the internet portals Maintains the help desk and route requests to RITS and ITS Assist in providing computer/network support relating to software and hardware problems reported by users Trains and support employees Provide training to users, making them more efficient. Monitor and report licenses on applications to ensure compliance Provides back up to the email server
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The employee frequently lifts and/or moves up to 30 pounds; the employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; the employee may occasionally push 150 pounds. The employee may be required to stand or sit for long periods of time. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use the wrists, hands and or/fingers in a repetitive motion. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee must have the ability to manipulate small pieces, and the ability to maneuver in small spaces and reach high places
