      Job Title: Job Coach 18+/Special Education Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt Reports to: Low Incidence Disability Coordinator Pay Grade: Clerical/Technical 3 Dept./School: Assigned Campus Date Revised: 05.19.2023 Primary Purpose: Work directly with students at their job sites and in the community. Accompany students to business/employment sites, oversee work training, develop employee/worker relationships, and consult with students about work expectations. Assist in implementing the students' Individual Educational Plan (IEP), including instructional programs, self-help/personal care, and behavior management inside and outside the classroom. Participates in selecting, planning, organizing, and evaluating materials provide on-site training and assistance to student with objectives for independent living and supported employment on a job site. Qualifications: Education/Certification: High school diploma or GED Able to drive a District provided vehicle (outstanding driving record, pass physical and drug test) Valid SBEC Educational Aide Certificate [required for Title 1 campuses] Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to obtain criminal and medical clearance Ability to communicate effectively Ability to comprehend and follow directions Ability to teach, lead and instruct Ability to work effectively with students, families, staff, customers, and employers Ability to follow verbal and written instructions Knowledge of behavior management and positive reinforcement Knowledge of Individual Education Plans for students SAMA (Satori Alternatives to Managing Aggression) Certification preferred Basic knowledge of first aide and CPR Experience: Experience working with high school aged students is preferred Major Responsibilities and Duties: Instruction Maintain and develop job sites for students in the supported employment program. Provide job coach support to assigned students including but not limited to social skills, behavior support, skill Collect data, maintain records from employers for all students in WBL and designated students in supported employment and provide to teachers and supervisor monthly. Communicate effectively with classroom teachers, parents, employers and ARD committee members concerning the progress of students as needed. Collect and present data to support transition planning. Maintain positive relationships with employers and community members. Participate in continuing education to improve skills to meet individual student needs. Proactively manage time to fulfill expectation and requirements of assigned job. Provide instructional behavioral, and communications supports for students, as needed. Support each student's mental, medical physical, communicative, and emotional needs. Assist in assessment routines and provision of accommodations. Record and report academic and behavioral data for progress monitoring purposes. Learn and implement evidence-based practices. Behavior Effectively manage student behavior, including intervention in crisis situations. Assist in the implementation and documentation of the student behavior management plan as directed by the teacher Provide a positive, calm, and consistent learning environment for students. Obtain and maintain SAMA certification, and implement those skills. Help support/monitor students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom. This may include community-based/vocational training sites, field trips, at lunch, in hallways, on/off the bus, and playground or outdoor areas. Obtain and maintain SAMA certification, and implement those skillls. Physical Help meet the individual needs of students, including personal care services and/or transferring them to and from wheelchairs and lifting and positioning as needed. Give physical assistance to students as needed. Support documentation that personal care services were provided as needed. Community-Based Instruction Support students during community-based/vocational training sites. Supervisory Responsibilities: None. Equipment Used: Varies depending on job site assignment Working Conditions: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: (vary according to job site assignment) Maintain emotional control stress Hearing and speaking to communicate with students, parents, educational staff, and employer staff Frequent physical activity which may include sitting, walking standing, stooping, bending, heavy lifting, and pushing wheelchairs, using lifts ramps, and specialized medical equipment Frequent lifting and carrying of 20 to 80 pounds (floor to chest and overhead) Occasional lifting, carrying, and pushing of up to 180 pounds in emergency situations to drag or lift injured students Ability to hear within normal range Possible exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases Possible moderate exposure to unusual elements such a extreme temperature, dirt, dust, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises Possible exposure to working around and with machinery having moving parts.
